Chapter 31

1206 Words
“Where Am I?, how did I get here? Were is Monica? Please tell me you got Monica?” My brain is fuzzy and I can’t think straight with all these pipes stuck into my body. Needles everywhere. “please Ms. Johnson calm down, your in hospital.” A young blond nurse pleaded. I was about to open my mouth when Griffin enters the room. “your awake?” With a big smile on his face. He peers to be relieved. His perfectly tanned body showing muscle under his white t-shirt. His hair is perfectly jelled, although he looks like he hasn’t slept in days. “where is Monica.?” I ask again, looking over to Griffin. “can you give us a minute?.” the nurse nodded and left the room. “No more going in circles tell me where Monica is, and what happened to Noah?” “who the f**k is Noah?.” Griffin asked, annoyed. My eyebrows pressed together. I’ve missed Griffin so much, but he is still arrogant, and still thinks he owns the world. “Are you even listening to yourself? Noah is the brother of the man you put in jail for a crime you commit. I yelled at him. My throat is sore. “ keep it down Mia,” he said, closing the door and blinds. “no, I’m done keeping quiet. Where is Monica?.” he closed my hands in his, I swear if he doesn’t speak up soon I will scream. “Monica is dead. The guy that was with the 2 of you, I presume it’s Noah,” he said full of sarcasm. “he testified Monica died trying to save you. “ how? She couldn’t even lift her face when I was still.” I kept quiet. Reliving the entire event. How did she do it? Tears are pouring out of my eyes. “ Mia, when you run, Noah was on top of him, but he got loose, but Monica got hold of his foot and he tripped, hit his head pretty bad, and then...” “ and then what Griffin.” Griffin took a deep breath. “ he shot her in the head.” The room started spinning, I can see Griffin’s mouth open and close as the words come out of his mouth, but I cannot hear a word. My entire body turning cold and I can’t move. I had no love for Monica, but she tried in the end, and even if she didn’t no one deserves to die like that. “get out.!” I yelled at Griffin. “get out now.!” Griffin’s eyes turned big, and he tried reaching for me, but I jerk away. Dawn came into the room, her hands full of flowers and chocolates I presume. “ Dawn, please make him go away.” I sobbed. “Griffin,” she said, her voice soft. “ok f**k, I will leave.” he grabbed his jacket and left. I furiously wiped my eyes. I know Griffin told me about the drug dealer and Jocelyn, but I can’t shake that there was, or is more. Monica warned me, but against what?. “thank you,” I said to Dawn while she places the flowers on the bedside table. I can feel the walls slowly being torn down as I let out an enormous sigh. “How are you feeling.?” Dawn asks concern. While sitting down on the bed next to me. “how long.?” I ask, my voice sounding raspy. “how long have I been here.?” “you were hydrated, and you had a concussion, you broke your leg.” “how long Dawn?.” I asked again, looking straight into her eyes. “you’ve been in a coma for 3 weeks.” I started crying, not because I was in a coma for 3 weeks, but because I missed Monica’s funeral. And what happened to Noah? Did he go to jail? Is he dead? I have so many questions and none of them get a proper answer. “you need to rest,” Dawn said while placing the flowers in a vase. “please Dawn, what happened?.” Dawn’s eyes turned soft, almost looks like she is about to cry. “Mia, you’ve been through enough, try to get some rest. I will explain all of this, I promise.” “NO. I need to know now.” I said. Dawn sat down on the chair, closing her arms. “Noah went to jail as an accomplished and Dwayne died.” “Dwayne?” I ask “ Dwayne was his name Noah’s brother. According to Noah, he was on top of you while you were passed out. He strangled you, so Noah shot him in the back. He wasn’t dead, but by the time the ambulance got to him, well, let’s just say he didn’t make it.” I can’t imagine the pain Noah must have felt when he shot his only brother. He loved his brother and wanted to help him. Now he is in jail for a crime his brother commits, and not to mention the part Griffin and Monica’s father was playing. “I need to see him.” “who Griffin?.” Dawn asks surprised. “no, Noah, I need to see him,” I said, trying to grab the glass of water from the bedside table. Dawn stands up and handed me the glass. “you know Griffin will never allow that.” “Griffin has no say in what I can and cannot do, it’s because of him that all of this happened.” I took a big sip of my water, I’m kind of annoyed with Dawn telling me what Griffin would allow. “you know what, Mia, have it your way. You weren’t the one seeing him suffer every day since Jocelyn died, and to be honest you would’ve never been able to handle it, as strong as you are. His life changed when you came into it, suddenly he had purpose again, and when you got kidnapped, it broke him, so if you want to punish him, do it. Just know that I won’t be around seeing you doing it.” by the time she finished her entire speech, her eyes were red with tears and her face in an angry tone. “I will see you tomorrow.” she left the room before I could apologize for being a total jackass towards her. The nurse came in to check my blood pressure and gave me some pain medication. I know what happened to Jocelyn was her choice, and that Griffin wanted to help her. He still had no right blaming it on someone else. Still, I have no right to blame him for what Dwayne did. This happened over a year ago. I still have this terrible feeling that there is more to what Griffin is letting on, and if our relationship survives this, he needs to be honest and totally honest with me. I have to admit, I missed him. I prayed every day for 2 weeks to see his face again. For him to hold me and tell me he loves me. I know he will never agree for me to go see Noah, but he needs to understand that he played a big part in my escape and I want to thank him.
