IA 1: RECITAL

"PAU, Mitos called and told me that he couldn't perform tonight," Saiki informed her friend, Pauline. "What happened?" she asked. "Her mother rushed to the hospital due to hypertension." She noticed the pity on her face. "Poor, Mitos." "What am I going to do now?" Saiki said restlessly. Pauline and her students had just finished their performances. Saiki and Mitos would be the next presenter together with their students, but her partner couldn't make it due to his mother's condition. "Would you please, calm down! Did you forget that you were a professional? You could do it even without Mitos," Pau said. She taught ballroom dance to her students; that's why she needed a partner. But how could she do that if she had no partner? All her life, that was the first time she gets too nervous. Today is their recital at Shining Star Studio. They have to perform with their students. The recital or mini-concert is a program for those who want to learn more about music. Children are also trained to increase their self-confidence to perform in front of many people. Recitals give students a clearly defined long-term goal to work. For a music recital, students are asked to prepare a piece to demonstrate their abilities and progress to their family and friends in performance. The satisfaction and validation a student acquires from accomplishing their goal is a significant component of music instruction. A student will gain exposure to numerous elements of music they might not otherwise receive. Student performers will represent many instruments available for study at Shining Star Studio — school of music and dance. A recital is also an opportunity for students to gain confidence through performance. Performance on stage is very different than going through exercises during practice. In a recital, there is no stopping for mistakes. New, young performers are given the additional stimuli of music, lights, and audience feedback. Sometimes challenges arise that are outside of the performer's control. For example, technical difficulties might arise from microphones or lights, and the performer must make split-second decisions either to continue through the challenge or stop to adjust. While some music students might shy away from the spotlight, others thrive onstage. Even if a child is nervous about performing, the studio recital is an important event for everyone to participate in. A student will likely experience some performance anxiety initially, but the SSS music recital provides the perfect, safe environment to manage such stress. The more a young performer is challenged in this way, the better they can approach similar life challenges. School presentations and talking to intimidating adults become more manageable, and large projects become another opportunity for personal achievement. SAIKI was graduated from a performing arts school, so that she chose to become a music and dance instructor. She works at Shining Star Studio or SSS. She is not interested in a business that his father is pressuring her to do. She really loves music. Aside from dancing and acting, she also enjoys singing and playing various instruments that she has inherited from her mother, who has been her mentor. She performed not only in the country but also abroad. "You're just going to perform with your students only on the first and last part, so don't stress yourself out," Pau reminded her. Her hands are sweating. She also bit her thumb, which had become her mannerism whenever she was nervous before taking a deep breath. She started to walk back and forth in front of her friend. She only stopped and walked towards the stage when she heard the MC announced their group's name. She ascends alone to the dark stage where the only spotlight illuminates her every move. Cha-Cha is the one she chose to play for her part because that was their winning piece abroad with her partner Mitos. Chacha is widely recognizable by its catchy rhythm — one, two, cha, cha, cha. It's easy to learn and fun to dance. It was developed by the Cuban composer and violinist Enrique Jorrin in the middle of the 1950s. Originally it was known as a slowed-down mambo or the triple mambo because of the three quick steps. It gained instant popularity due to its simplicity. In the time, it evolved into a separate dance, and although it was initially known as the cha-cha-cha, the name was shortened to the cha-cha. SHE STARTED to sway her body when the music began even though her heart was pounding so fast. She just smiled in front of the crowd to hide her nervousness. She was enjoying the music when suddenly a pair of hands wrapped around her waist. Maybe it's Mitos, she said to herself. That he found someone who could look after his mother in the hospital just to perform today, but when she turned around, he wasn't. She knew that the frustration on her face was evident. She was about to push the stranger away from her when she realized that he's dancing with her. He knows every movement of Mitos. She frowned as she stared at the man as they faced each other while dancing. She let him dance with her. She didn't want to make a mess because the show wasn't for her but the kids. "Who are you?" She couldn't help but ask him as their bodies clung together. She didn't take her eyes off of him, waiting for an answer. But she failed. She didn't know if he heard what she said or not. She couldn't even look at his entire face because of his mask covering the left part of his face. She assumed he wasn't Mitos because the man in front of her was taller than her friend. His shoulders were broad, very masculine. The mixed of his natural scent and perfume was also intoxicating, which gives her a unique feeling, especially when his hand rests on her bareback. His long hair is tied up. His gray eyes are attractive, he's also glamorous, and most of all, she knew behind that mask was a handsome man. Her heartbeat becomes more vital when he rubbed his hand from the middle of her chest down to her belly that gives a shiver down her spine, and then they both grinned downward while he was behind her. "Oh, God!" she moans silently.
