Rough Night

Prologue    Adriana   I did it! I finally graduated college and with honors. The surprised looks on my instructors' faces as I managed to improve my grades significantly, made me want to burst with laughter. I was always book smart but when that incident took my sister away from me, I downspiraled. Happiness spreaded through me as I walked across that stage shaking the hands of the dean and my instructors who said that I wasn’t going to make it. These four years were tough for me but I stuck it out and now here I am an official college graduate. Abby would’ve been so proud. I did this partially for her. I smiled to myself as I took selfies after the ceremony. I didn’t have a family here for me like some of my classmates. I had a few acquaintances and even took pictures with them. Honestly, I think they pitied me. The news spread fast throughout the campus of my sister’s death and I could hear the whispering as I walked past students to go to class. I  am glad that I was able to overcome it.    The first thing that was on my list was to find a job. I filled out many applications just to receive emails stating that I didn’t have enough experience or the position was no longer available. How hard was it to find a job? I searched for weeks and nothing came through. My funds were running low and I had to figure out how to bring in income. I walked to my favorite cafe right off of the beach, ordered my coffee, and continued to job search on the laptop.    “Job searching?” A man asked. He stood at least five foot nine and wore a short sleeve button down shirt with long khaki shorts.  He was a good looking man with tan skin and dark hair.     “Yes, I just graduated college.”  His eyes lit up with amusement. Really? What was your major? I may have something for you.” “Accounting,” I answered proudly.  “Ahhh, math and money. I may have something for you.” Curiosity got the best of me and I closed my laptop and turned towards him.     “I’m listening.”  He chuckled. “I am a new club owner and I am recruiting dancers. You can make a lot of money in a day. I know it's not the job you imagined but it can be a start until you find your dream job.”  He spoke with such confidence. He promised that he provided protection for the dancers and we were able to choose any shift we wanted. He was right, it was a start and I do need the money. I’ve lost so much in the past few years and the funds my granny left me and Abby were almost gone.   “What are your requirements?” I asked him. I can’t lie, I was curious and I knew this would be a way for me earn some quick cash.   “You will have to audition and you will have a stage name for security purposes. I run a legit business and will not let anything happen to anyone.” He reassured me. I took a deep breath, thinking about if I should or shouldn’t do this.    “What’s your name?” I asked him.    “Giovanni, Gino for short.”    “Okay, Gino give me your number and I’ll think about your offer,” I said. I didn’t want to make a decision based off of the first few minutes we spent together.  He wrote down his number and gave it to me.    “There is a spot to audition tonight if you decide to come. 8 pm sharp.” He said as he walked out of the door.  I finished my coffee and headed towards my townhouse. It was a lot to think about. Being an exotic dancer wasn’t in my plans for a career but I am almost out of funds and I have to support myself somehow. I looked on my table of the bills that were adding up each month. I was so conflicted. I checked my emails on the computer and saw a message from one of the accounting positions I applied to.  Dear Adriana Hart, Thank you for interest in the accounting position at Lush Interiors. Although we were impressed with your resume, you do not meet the basic needs required for the position. We encourage you to continue reviewing current openings on our portal. Best wishes to you.  Oscar Hardy, Human Resources I closed my computer and pulled out my phone to call Gino. When he answered, he was happy to hear my voice.  “I’ll be there,” I said when he answered the phone.  “Get ready for a life changing experience.” He said.  If I only knew what he meant by that….I would have never made that call. Rough Night    Two Years Later….       Not again. I said to myself as another creepy guy approached me. I should be used to this by now considering that I'm a stripper and have been for the past two years. I started off making so much money and it became easier to dance naked in front of people. Eventually, I was so caught up in this lifestyle that I haven’t applied to any accounting jobs. Everyone knows me as Desire. My boss says I'm every man's wet dream. Just the thought of it makes me want to throw up. It was a really busy weekend in Gino's gentlemen club. The money was good but the environment isn't the same anymore. I used to feel safe but things have drastically changed. The girls are doing more private dances and for extra tips, they're doing extra things. If I could, I would've quit a long time ago, but bills need to be paid and the money is what keeps a roof over my head.        I'm a twenty-four year old with a degree in accounting and yet I'm standing here with this creepy ass man that is staring at me with so much hunger in eyes.  It’s so hard to play nice, especially when I saw what these men did to women who didn’t obey their orders.  “What can I do for you, sir?" I asked annoyed. I need to make it my agenda to keep trying to find jobs in my field. I lost the motivation to continue looking especially when I was able to make so much money easily.   "Oh, I think you already know,” he says, still grinning. He had an glint in his eyes that made me feel eerie.         "No, I don’t. If you think that I’m that kind of woman, then you’re sadly mistaken. You can ask one of the other girls though." I tried to be as politely as I could. He came even closer to me, ignoring my protest and he's drenched in alcohol. His breath was hot and smelled like garlic and  cigarettes. I managed to contain the vomit that was attempting to come up. He put his lips close to my ear.           "I won't take no for an answer." My eyes widened as I looked at his hand gripping my wrist. He flashed me a wink. I looked around and my eyes landed on my boss, Gino. He nodded his head signaling me to follow orders. I had to play it off as if this disgusting man said a joke. I laughed so hard that he was caught off guard. I looked over Gino, hoping that he help me, but he ignored me. I had to find a way out of this, but wasn’t sure how without causing a scene.  I did the unthinkable and invited him to a private room just to show Gino that I was doing my job. I had no idea that it was going to change my life.        Here we are all alone in a private room. The music blasted throughout the club. I slowly started dancing and his eyes lit up with excitement. I admit, I was so scared, afraid of not knowing what was going to happen. He must have sensed my nervousness.    "Awww sweetheart, don't be scared. Come a little closer." I wasn’t within reach and I knew he wanted to touch me. That was thing about private dances, the men were allowed to get away with certain things here. I've never felt so uncomfortable and so disgusted in my life. I stood there frozen, unable to move, unable to speak. I'm thinking of ways to get out of this room before things get worse. His eyes flashed with anger and he was starting to become impatient.    "I paid so much money for you, Desire! Give me what I paid for or I'll take it."  Fear grew in my heart as he stood and grabbed me. "Let go of me!" I hollered in a shaky voice. I attempted to snatch my arm away but he had a tight grip.  "I'm not going to have s*x with you."    His voice dripped with venom. "You're going to do whatever I've paid for you to do." We were so close that his smelly breath surrounded us. "You’re starting to piss me off! Get on your knees."  When I didn't move, he pulled out a silver gun from his waist and pointed at me. My eyes grew wide and I knew that I had to obey his orders. I slowly got down on my knees as he began to unzip his pants. He wore a devilish grin and not the one that women fall for. This was more wicked, sinister, and I had to get out of here. I can't do this.  “Please just let me go. I won't tell anyone." He stood over me, smirking while I begged him. I felt so little.        Suddenly, his hand connected with my jaw, the loud noise catching me off guard. The pain surged through as the tears shimmered in my eyes, but I was not going to be weak in front of him. I couldn't give in. He came closer with one of his hands in his pants and the gun in the other.    "Open your mouth." He growled. He held the gun against my neck, waiting for me to oblige. As I did, he spoke with such a harsh tone. "You better do it right or I won't hesitate to put a bullet in your head." He pulled out his member slowly moving it up and down. As he attempted to come closer to my mouth, I moved toward him and bit him hard. He groaned in pain and I used the opportunity to grab his gun out of his hand. I hurried up to my feet to run towards the door but he was quicker than I expected and grabbed me by my hair. He had a tight grip and I hollered in agony as he roughly threw me down to the floor. I hit my head and the gun fell out of my hand. He moved quickly to pick it up as I tried to get to my feet. My heart was racing so fast as I tried to move away from him only to trap myself between the sofa and him. He smiled knowing that I couldn't escape and I was slowly beginning to accept my fate.    *****   Alaric "RIC"       I never knew what I was missing until reality came crashing down at me like a tsunami wave. I didn't know how my “make-believe” life was different from my real one. In all of my imaginary nights of fantasizing, I didn't expect to have such a normal life. My normal was a multi-billionaire consists of appearances and appropriate behavior. Ive became a successful software developer and while life’s been great, I've always wondered what a normal life would look like and tonight was the night I was going to find out. I was basically born with a silver spoon in my mouth. My parents shielded me away from the public schools so I wasn’t able to make as many friends. The only time I was in the public eye was when we had to make a family appearance. As a kid, anytime I wanted to do something, I had to have someone watch over me. Now as a successful adult, I wanted to do normal things that guys my age usually do. I'm starting to regret that decision as my best friends Keelan and Jordan invited me out to a club and not the club I was expecting. As we approached the building I began to second guess the normal life.        "What the hell is this place?" I asked curiously. "It's Gino's Gentlemen Club. It's the hottest strip club in Miami and the dancers.." Keelan whistled. "They are beautiful. You said you wanted normal right?"  I glared at him. “And this is what normal guys do?"    "Not normal guys, just Keelan." Jordan chimed in.    "Shut up, Jordan. I'm surprised you came. What's your reason? Planning to turn a hoe into a housewife?" Keelan challenged.   "I'm planning to turn my fist into your face, if you don't stop,” he retorted.    Valet parked the car for us as we walked to stand in line.  “Is it always this crowded?" I asked looking at how many people were waiting in line. It had to be over a hundred people here.  “Ric, to be a normal guy, you have to blend in, and constantly asking questions is not blending in,” Keelan said.         This place looked nice on the outside. I studied the details of this building and saw that it was freshly painted. We paid our way in and bought a VIP booth. As we were walking in, there were so many people. I was afraid that someone would recognize me. We continued on and finally made it to our booth. A beautiful waitress appeared and asked for our drink order. I can honestly say that they have great taste in women. "This isn't so bad right Ric?" Keelan asked.    "No, but it’s very crowded. What if someone sees who I am?"  He gave me a half-smile."You worry too much. Just have fun, relax, drink, get a lap dance or something." He was right. This is what I needed.        The waitress returned with our drinks and then it was on from that point. I began to loosen up a bit. Women were coming over to dance and talk with us. I received at least four lap dances. It was pretty good until I turned my head and saw something or I should say someone that caught my attention. This girl was so beautiful with silky skin that makes you want to taste it to see if it is as good as it looks. She was beyond beautiful, she was perfection. Her long dark curly hair framed her heart-shaped face and her hazel color eyes stood out the most. I was so captivated by how perfect she was. She had an innocent persona and I knew she didn't belong in a place like this. The guy she was talking to was a creep that gave me a bad vibe. He was close to her, whispering something in her ear that made her body tense up. She looks up to the other guy and he nods his head. She didn't notice that the creep had a silver gun on his waist as they both turned to go to a private room. I may be rich, but I'm not stupid. I slowly stood up and Jordan could sense something was bothering me.   "Ric are you okay?" He asked as he took another sip of his drink. I knew if anything, I knew that they would have my back if I got into trouble. We're not only friends, we're brothers.        "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just going to the bathroom. I'll be back." I said as I made my way down from the VIP booth. I followed them without being noticed and wondered why I have the sudden urge to protect her. I guess it was just my instincts, my gut was gnawing at me. As I approached the rooms, I noticed that the doors were closed except for a few. It took a few minutes, but I kept walking until I heard the man's voice. He was angry saying how much he paid for her and how she was going to do what he wanted. My blood started to boil at the thought of his nasty hands on her. No woman should be forced to do anything she doesn’t want. I can hear her pleading with him to let her go. In an instant, I heard a loud thump and I knew things were bad. I had to be smart about this although I didn't know her at all. The music is so loud that anyone else wouldn't hear what's going on. He threatened to shoot her and next thing I know, I hear him yell in agony and I just knew she was trying to fight her way out. I have to help her or this is going to be the end of her and for some reason,  I can't let that happen.
