Prologue

"Gee!"  The crowds are too congested!  They were too loud and I am standing among them trying to catch my friend's attention.  A song cover by a singer in front of us has started a few seconds ago and the crowd’s becoming even more hysterical. I can't even hear my voice when the song comes to its finale.  It is the famous rock ballade song that was originally sung by Halsey. No wonder the crowds are very hysterical. I shake my head for a mere second before I quickly move a step closer to my friend, with a great effort since it is too tight.  She is still focusing on singing along with the singer together with the crowds and not even a glance she tries to look at me.  "I need the toilet." I speak, closer to her ear.  "What!?" She screams back, trying to get what I was saying earlier.  "I need to..." I say, signaling my hands out of the crowd.  "Wait, the song is almost at the end." She replies, while continues staring in front of us where basically we can't even see the singer who actually sing that cover song.  I roll my eyes.  As soon as the song ended, I pull my friend's hand and quickly get out of the crowd. Gwyneth, that skinny girl can easily passes through the crowd, while I am in front of her, catching up my breath by making a path for her.  "We will never get that spot again!" Gwyneth is whining behind me. My ears automatically shut her out as I walk faster to the nearby toilet booth. I literally can’t hold it in anymore.  What the heck did I drink today? To be honest, we drank too much. We bought too many food and stuffs at the fair before we entered the mini concert held by the fair authorities. I can still hear Gwyneth repeatedly nagging something when I finish having my time inside the booth. My mouth voluntarily smiles to her cuteness. Always and forever will be my girlfriend.  "I am done!" I say as soon as I step out of the booth.  "Yeah, you should be." She replies, pretending to sulk.  "Aww, Gee. Are you mad?"  "Yes! It’s my favorite singer and now the concert is over." She replies pointing to some crowds that are just coming out of a big white booth in the middle of the field.  "Yeah..." I say slowly, but obviously I am not regretting.  "But! We still have the fair. We get a lot of rides to play." I try to persuade her with the fun worthy fair in front of us.  "Nevermind." She answers while walking a few steps away from the toilet booth.  "Okay, how about I treat you some ice cream?" I try again. This time I rest my arms around her shoulder.  "Nope." She replies again, slumping down her shoulder while trying to avoid me.  "Then, how about burger? You love burgers." I continue throwing my baits.  "Did you say burgers and not burger?" Suddenly she stops and my step halt. I see her hand in the air showing the ‘quote’ signs.  "Uh, did I say burgers?" I reply, playfully thinking.  "Yeah.. I heard you and you can't take it back."  "Fine. Where are we going then?" I ask her back.  "Yeah!!!!!!! Burgers here I come!" Gwyneth shouts out loud and making her signature small jump before grabbing my car keys and making her way out of the crowd.  Well, that was …kinda easy.   *** "I told you Stacy, this is the best restaurant I have ever eat their burgers. They are just too good." Gwyneth say taking one more bite of her big juicy burger.  She has been talking nonstop since the first step we put into the burger's restaurant by telling me that this is her all-time favorite since she was a little kid to the moment we went to the high school together.  I just smile. She could be childish sometimes and whoever don’t. I can be childish if I want to.  "So, you told me that your ‘supposed to be husband’ met his long lost love?" Finally, I get a question for me, her hands showing the ‘quote’ signs again.  "Yeah, they met the first day Derek moved into his new branch, here." I reply carelessly wiping my mouth with the napkin.  "And your father?" She asks, curious.  "I don’t know, and I don’t know how to tell him either. Well, it’s not that I am willing to do the marriage thing at the first place." I reply, shrugging my shoulder.  "Yeah.."  "It’s our parent’s business ventures. And we are a part of their businesses.. I guessed."  "I could see that."  "Yeah. Like totally. Everyone knew for god sake. But yet, they were all supported him."  "He is their boss, duh."  I roll my eyes. Yes, what Gwyneth trying to say is true. It is a total fact that causes me to agree without hesitation. It was planned years ago. I don’t even know about that until I finished high school.  What my life is, and what they still think is that I am a beautiful billionaire's daughter who are going to be marrying another billionaire's son. A total arrangement everyone had been waiting for years.  And I have been living with that fact since then. Suddenly, a chaos startles both Gwyneth and I. We quickly turn around to the front door of the restaurant, where a crowd is running past the restaurant. They look like they are chasing something or somebody. Well, that’s was weird.  What the commotion is all about?  "What the.." I hear Gwyneth speak when I turn around and a guy with all black hoodie and cloths are already sitting next to me.  "What.." Just before I could finish my sentence, another crowds come running across the restaurant again towards the opposite way. They are running for something, I am very sure of that. “I saw him running around here!” One of them shouts.  "Chupp!" The next thing I know is that I am already in the guy arms, and he is way too close that our lips are literally stuck together. It is just too close that I forget that I lost my breath. For that one second thing, Gwyneth eyes grew wider and she fell into a total silent. It is an eerily silent that I can’t help but to pull away as quick as possible. My eyes and my voice come out furious.  "What the hell, dude!?”
