Chapter One: August

1587 Words
** Author's Notes: This is my first book and as such is more than rough around the edges. It's one of the two darkest works I have and one of the two I want to revise to fix these problematic scenes. I'm putting a warning up at the beginning that Adon and his chapters are very dark and twisted. So rape and abuse warnings in advance.** The first thing that got August’s attention and started to tug her from the void was something sharp and cold gliding over her forehead. She tried to ignore it and sink back into the blackness but the pressure increased and she felt something drip down the side of her face.  Giving in she forced her eyes open and blinked as she tried to bring herself to the present. Her green eyes locked onto the one hazel one of her captor and she stifled a scream.  The thing that had been tracing over her forehead had been a knife of all things. “Pretty,” he mused. His eye wasn’t locked on her. That would have creeped her out even more at this point.  But then he held the blade over his tongue and she watched as a drop of her blood landed on it.  His admiration was for her blood.  She wanted to jerk back but was scared of how much damage the wicked blade could do. The whole back of her head ached and she had to fight to focus. His eye glazed as he relished the taste and then it snapped towards her.  Just now noticing she was awake once more. “Welcome back.” There was no warmth in his voice just a soft statement.  “Who are you?” August demanded.  Who knew how long she had been out.  She tried to move and she woke up completely as she realized she was tied down to a steel chair with woven rope restraints.  “What do you want?” She tried to sound demanding but it came out more like a whimper. “You.” He motioned to her with one hand his eye starting to study her from top to bottom.  He recalled her first question and smiled once more sending another wave of fear through her. “Adon.” “Adon, you don’t want to hurt me.” August smiled as best she could as she tried to disarm the man.  “You can just let me go. I’m in the middle of a career change so I’m broke.” “Hurt?” He chuckled. “I don’t want to hurt you.” He smiled. “I want to torture you before I kill you.” To her credit, August managed to stop the bubbling screams from erupting. She swallowed and forced herself to take a deep breath. “Why?” “I want to,” he repeated again.  His smile vanished and the laughter died out. “But I’m not allowed to, yet.”  His words were bitter and she saw his eyes narrow at something behind her. Before August could question further, she heard the squeak of a door opening and craned her head to see the new arrival.  Three men walked with purpose into the room and took seats in a loose circle around her. She had been so distracted by Adon she hadn’t even noticed the furniture around her.  Could these be her saviors? The one in charge was dressed in business best and his eyes were calculating as he examined her.  He frowned as he saw the blood trailing down her face. “I believe I told you to not damage her.” His eyes were still on August, but his words were meant for Adon. “I didn’t, much.” He shrugged. “A little blood isn’t damaging.”  “A little blood for you is foreplay,” observed one of the other men.  His clear blue eyes studied the young woman. “You’re lucky he didn’t get into it yet.” He smirked. “He loves to play with the strays when they find themselves in our net.” “Gideon, quiet.” The first man demanded. “Ms. Foreman, do you understand why you are here with us today?” His cold vacant tone reminded her of a doctor that couldn’t care less. “No?” She echoed. “I mean you know me, I’m not sure how, but I have no idea what’s going on here. If this is all a mistake you can just let me go. I promise I won’t tell anyone else about any of you.” “Oh, it’s no mistake you’re here, kitten.” The blonde remarked with a wolfish grin. “You’re our current meal ticket. On sale to the highest bidder.” “Gideon!” The raised voice meant business and the other shut up though he winked at August. She found herself distracted by him as her eyes roamed over his figure.  His hair was messy in a didn’t bother to get ready, but still exuding s*x appeal kind of way.  His eyes were locked on hers and promised many earthly delights.  She felt herself start to breathe just a bit faster under his bewitching gaze.  She didn’t know what was wrong with her.  Here she was in a crazy kidnapped situation and she was starting to get all hot and bothered by one of her captors!  But damn he looked like he knew his way around a woman. She bit back a moan that tried to escape and scowled at herself.  Something was seriously wrong here. “Are you finished?” the first sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose.  “Listen, Ms. Foreman, you will be staying with us until the transaction. If you try to escape, I will give you to Adon to play with, before letting Gideon have his way with you. I only need you alive. You can be delivered in as many broken pieces as I need as long as that request remains valid. If you do as we say, and don’t cause problems, then you’ll have nothing to worry about. “ “I don’t understand,” August objected. “Why would I be auctioned? I’m broke there’s nothing special about me. Are you guys s*x traffickers? “No.” It was a simple response and she raised an eyebrow as a request for more information. “You were chosen for a different reason than that, your powers for one.” “Wait, powers?” August blinked at them. “You have the wrong girl. My only power is to get utterly lost.” “So you don’t know?” The man made a hmm sound and nodded. “You’ll find out soon enough then. You may address me as Nathan. I need you to look into the camera, we have a video to record.” She scowled. “I’m not a piece of meat.”  As if in mockery to her words she had a mental image of her splayed out on a bed with her limbs tied down. She was bare and whimpered in need as she writhed back and forth moaning.  Bright red bells were attached to n****e rings that were hooked onto her and Gideon was tugging on them making her beg for more. Her thoughts were interrupted by an amused chuckle and as her cheeks flamed she searched out the culprit to see Gideon still watching her.  As he realized he had her attention he made a display of licking his lips and winking at her. What was wrong with her?  Why would she even want to be with someone so arrogant? August wanted to kick herself but Gideon was the least of her problems. “You’re not a piece of meat. You’re going to be making a video for a certain group of individuals. If they decide they want to buy you, it could make us a lot of money. If they choose to pass there is another group that is quite interested in obtaining you. I am aware you believe you have no worth, but you’re incorrect on that matter.”  He glanced over at the silent member of the group. “Senna, get the camera ready. I believe Ms. Foreman is ready to start for us now.” The young man nodded his green eyes avoiding August’s questioning ones. “Of course.” He wheeled the camera closer. “Very good. Now, Ms. Foreman, this is a mere formality but I’m going to need you to introduce yourself.” August wanted to object but she has a suspicion if she did so that she would be putting herself in extreme danger. She swallowed her pride looked at the camera and spoke. “August Foreman.” “And besides the scratch Adon has given you, have you been hurt by any of us?” “He hit me too,” August scowled. Nathan sighed. “That was not supposed to happen, you have my apologies.” He paused to glare at Adon who looked away from the scolding. “Besides that incident?” “No.” “And you want to keep it that way, correct?” August gulped. “Yes?” Her answer came out in a squeak. “If you want to save her, you know what the requirement is. If not, the AAE would love to take her in and explore her powers.”  He smiled at the camera at this point. “However, if you decide to go that route I think you should realize I will let the rest of the pack here have their way with her before we return her. As an added bonus for you, I’ll make sure that Gideon gives you a mental front row seat so you can watch every desecrated moment.”  He gave a signal with his hand and the young man turned off the camera. He glanced at August and frowned at her restraints.  “You will be allowed to follow Senna to your room. For now, you have a roommate, but she won’t last long. I’d advise you to not get attached.”  He strode off without another word with Gideon strolling behind him.  August wanted to ask more but her words got lost as she watched Adon staring at her.  She really did feel like a mere piece of meat.  She bit back a whimper and as soon as Senna freed her, she followed close behind out of the nightmare room and towards her new quarters.
