Chapter One

"This feels weird." April said, scanning her surroundings with narrow eyes, as if she thought something was going to jump out at her. Holly chuckled a little, shaking her head. "Being in a bar?" She asked. "Being in a bar with you." April replied. "Greyson is going to be so mad." "Greyson is on a hunting trip with Colton and Josiah." Holly replied, smiling widely. "He will never know I am here." She pushed her friend toward the bar. "Now stop being a negative Nancy and let's have some fun." "Okay..." April nodded, but didn't sound so sure. Holly knew she was thinking of Greyson's temper, which was odd. If anyone should be worried about Greyson, it was Holly. "Look over there." Holly nodded toward the bartender. "Hello, tall blonde and sexy." "Holly..." "Oh come on." Holly sat down on a stool. "There is nothing wrong with harmless flirting." With that Holly waved her hand, getting the bartender's attention. He walked over and flashed a smile at the girls. "What are you ladies having?" "If I said you, would it get me a closer look at that tattoo?" She asked, nodding toward his arm where a tribal tattoo twisted all the way up it and under his shirt. He smirked a little, his brown eyes meeting hers. "Aren't you a feisty one." "Baby, you have no idea." She said, leaning forward just a bit on the bar. "And he doesn't need to." April hissed beside her, earning her a scowl from Holly. "Are you two even old enough to be drinking?" The bartender asked, folding his arms and raising an eyebrow playfully. "I don't know." Holly said, leaning more forward so he could see her full cleveage. She smiled as he watched her run a hand inside her shirt and down her breast to pull out a card from her bra. "You tell me." She handed him the incredibly fake ID. "Um... Holly..." April said, quickly followed by a low, angry growl that made Holly stand up straight. "Oh shit." She groaned, flinching, not even needing to turn around to know who that was. An arm reached around her, a body brushing up against her back, and snatched the ID from the guy's hands. "These girls are nineteen. You are not to serve them." He said. "And if I catch your eyes, or any other parts, on my girl again I will tear you to pieces." A moment later she felt a large hand wrap around her upper arm, pulling her to her feet. She thought about resisting, but knew he would just toss her over his shoulder, so she stood, not wanting to cause a scene. "I am going to go to the bathroom." April said, giving her a look that said she was wishing her luck. Greyson lead Holly away from the bar off to a corner, pinning her to the wall. "Is your first thought in the morning 'what can I do today to piss off Greyson more than yesterday?'" Holly could practically see the flames in his dark blue eyes. "Maybe not the first thought." She said, smirking a bit. "But defiantly first five." "This isn't a joke, Holly." He said through gritted teeth, his nose flaring. "But it is, Greyson. I can't even go out with a friend without you trailing me." With that sentence she found herself feeling angry as well. "I am not a child." "Stop acting like a child and I will stop treating you like one." "That is so original, Greyson." She laughed out of spite. "Did you come up with that all on your own?" "Damn it, Holly! Why can't you just listen to me? I told you not to leave the house while I was gone." He placed his hands on either side of her head, leaning in a bit. "Because I am not your pet dog! I don't stay on command." "If you wanted to go out, I would have gone with you." "Which defeats the purpose of a girls' night." "What if a hunter had been here? Hell, what if a group of hunters had been here?" "Then they wouldn't have attacked me in a public club." "No, they would have waited for you to leave. Followed you home. Watched you as you peeled off those skin tight clothes." With this he ran a hand down her side. "Getting all hot and bothered by the sight of such a gorgeous creature naked. They would have came in, had their way with you, and killed you and probably your brother, too." "I am more observant than that. I would have noticed and I wouldn't have lead them back to the house." "Really?" He asked, a cruel humorous tone filtering his voice. "You didn't even notice Colton and I following you." "Are you going to drag me home?" She asked, looking down. She hadn't even sensed either of them, which means Greyson already knew he was right. No sense in arguing about it. "I should." He nodded. "I am tempted to throw you over my shoulder and carry you out of here. But Colton was hitting up some guy when I left him, so I wouldn't want to ruin that." "So I am supposed to sit here, not drink, and watch everyone else have fun?" She asked, looking up at him, pouting a little. "What? You want to dance?" Was that sarcasm? Holly asked herself as she looked up at him. The anger that had been blazing in his eyes had simmered now, but she still couldn't be so sure. "Come on, Baby." He said, placing a hand on her waist and taking another step forward to where he was pressed against her. He dipped his head to her ear. "I am just trying to protect you. I can do that dancing, sitting, f*****g, you name it." "Greyson!" She hissed, pushing against him, looking around to see if anyone had over heard. Greyson laughed, standing up straight, placing a kiss on top of her head. It amazed her at how quick his mood had changed. She, however, didn't have mood-swings that easily. She pushed against him, but he still didn't budge. "You were supposed to be on a hunting trip." She said. "You were supposed to stay at home with your brother." Greyson replied. "I guess we both lied." "He called you, didn't he?" There went the deal they had made. "I hate to break up this... umm... moment." Colton said, laying a hand on Greyson's shoulder. Greyson still didn't move from Holly. "But I thought I'd let you know Trey and I are heading out." "Trey?" Holly asked only to be ignored. "Okay." Greyson nodded. "Just be careful and call if you are going to be out all night." Colton nodded once to Greyson and smiled at Holly. "I see that look." Colton said, Greyson finally taking a step back. "Go easy on him. We only followed you because we love you." Holly didn't say anything in return and after a moment, Colton left. "Why can he go out with some random guy, but I can't go out with a friend?" Anger still ran through her veils and the smirk Greyson wore was only adding fuel to the fire. "He is not my mate." "Stop saying it like that!" Holly shook her head. "I am going to say goodbye to April and then we are going home." She turned, but turned back. "And I swear to God, Greyson, you are sleeping in your own room tonight." "We will see about that." Greyson smiled, following behind Holly. When Holly found April she was dancing with a bald guy with jailhouse tattoos all over what was visible of his body and looked to be getting way too handsy. April looked relived when Holly pulled her away. "I am sorry Greyson ruined our night." "Don't worry about it." April shrugged. "I am actually glad someone came along to stop you before you did something you would have regretted with that bartender." "I wouldn't have actually done anything with him." "You are damn right you wouldn't have." Greyson growled behind her. "Greyson, go wait for me outside!" "Now who is treating who like a dog?" He said and didn't move. "You are leaving." It wasn't a question and she didn't look surprised. "Yeah." Holly nodded. "I am no longer in the mood for all of this. I will see you in class on Monday?" "Sure." April nodded, but didn't meet Holly's eyes. Holly turned around and headed out of the club, Greyson on her heels. The entire ride home in Greyson's band new mustang, Holly was silent. "Tomorrow we are going on a family run." Greyson attempted speaking again, placing a hand on Holly's knee. She brushed it off. "If you are going to keep touching me, I will just get in the back." She folded her arms. "Hell, why didn't you say so?" Greyson said. "If you wanted to get in the back so I could touch you better, I will pull over." "Oh the fact that you still think there is a chance of you getting laid at any point in the next month is hilarious." "These empty threats of yours are getting tiresome, Holly." Greyson said, forcing a yawn. "We both know you are going to be curled up around me tonight anyway, so just drop this who act." Holly just shook her head and to her surprise, Greyson didn't say anything else. She got her phone out of her jeans pocket and sent a quick text to her brother. You are dead to me. As Greyson drove up the driveway, Holly watched as the big manor seemed to come up from the group. She could imagine that it would look eerie and maybe even haunted to anyone else, but to her it looked like Heaven. It had been her safe place when she didn't have one. Sam was sitting in the chair in the foyer when they came in. His blonde hair was in his face and his head was tilted back against the wall. He looked like he had been asleep until they came in. He shot to his feet, hands out in front of him, facing his sister. "Holly, I swear I didn't do it!" He said, looking at her and then to Greyson. "Weren't you on a..." He said and shook his head. "I get it." "Goodnight, Sam." Holly said as she passed him, heading for the stairs. "Holly, we aren't finished!" Greyson yelled after her, but she didn't stop until she was locked safely in the bathroom.
