“and they all live happily ever after” This is the last statement on almost every single book my mother would tell me before I go to sleep, and this one she is telling me right now is no different from the others. I am Jhozelyn Maye Sarmiento or simply Zelly for most of my family. I just turned 8 years old today.  I stand in front of my mirror and admire how pretty I am today. With my pale skin, brown eyes and pinkish lips the green off shoulder cocktail dress paired with mint green sandals complements my young body features. My family is far from perfect, but what I love the most about my parents is they give their best to make me feel that I am a princess and we are a perfect family. Together, we will live happily just like with fairytale books I read.  Just like Cinderella, I had a party and dance with my father as my prince for the evening while my favorite strawberry ice cream and giant sansrival cake is served. Everything seems so perfect as everyone dance, eat, sing and celebrate until the dawn. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Staring at my dark blue ceiling with glowing stars while hearing my mother’s angelic voice brings me in a peaceful meadow. I glance into my side and look straight into my mother’s brown eyes as she close the book. “I love you mommy” I spoke in a sleepy voice “I love you too honey” she replied before giving me a kiss on the forehead and placing the book on my mini bookshelf above my bed headboard. I am always astonished with my mother’s beauty. She walks with grace and elegance, she has brown hair and eyes, pointed nose and glossy rose lips. She looks like a queen, I imagined. “Call daddy for me, mommy. I want to say goodnight.” I say before she left the room calling for my dad. Not any minute later, the tall figure of my dad silently enters my room right after knocking softly on my bedroom door. He softly situated on the side of my bed and softly brush long black hair. “You called for me honey?” my father while lovingly looking straight into my eyes. “Yes daddy, I just want to say good night and that I love you. Thank you for today.” I said to him sitting up and giving him a tight hug which he returns gladly. I always find peace being on my fathers arm as held me like I am the most precious thing he have. He situated himself in a comfortable position beside me in bed. He is seated on my left side with his legs stretched and his back on the headboard. A smile is painted on my face as my father continued to stoke my hair and hummed a song until my eyelids drops and sleeps overcome my consciousness. This day may not be perfect but with my mom and dad on my side, everything is enough. Engulf with all the protection, kindness and fairytales thrown into me today; I was truly happy. However, never would I think that all those things could banished with a single mistake. I faced the dark truth about reality the moment nightmares appear in my life rather than my dreams.
