BETRAYED

CHAPTER 1: THE BEGINNING

Well today was a sh*t day, and the rain outside didn't make it any better "How on earth am I going to get home in that weather?!" I whisper yelled to myself staring out the window 

Today was so busy in the cafe and this is when I came to the realisation that I wasn't getting paid enough to work here, I mean I've know for a long time that income was bad - very bad - no matter what but realistically for a failed college/uni student dropout what else could I do, I don't blame myself or anyone for my mistakes but I guess since it's my life I have to pay the price and work in this little cafe down the street from the city, the big dream

The bell sounded on the door and on instinct I went straight to the door to serve whoever just came in. I didn't pay much attention to the people that has entered and guided them to the next available table and since I was lost in my own thought I didn't notice anything one bit. Once they all sat down, they all stared at me catching my attention and which made me focus causing all heat to rush around my body as my breath hitches

It was three men, one blonde and two brunettes but they weren't regulars clearly cause I have never seen them in my life but wow they were really good-looking with the suits to compliment them as well

I snapped out of everything I was thinking and mentally slapped myself for crushing too hard on good looking men I just met and would never even look my way "Hello, my name is Natalia, nice to meet you, what would you like today? Today's special on the menu is apple pie custard tart which is now at a discounted price but honestly anything on the menu that catches your eye is probably what's best for you" I said that with a forced smile with a fake enthusiastic voice trying to avoid all contact at all and looked back down when I finished speaking waiting for them to respond 

'How unprofessional' now they can clearly see I am feeling intimidated. At the same time they slowly moves their eyes from me and to the menu placed in front of them with one grabbing it to look closely "You said the apple pie custard was at a discounted price, right?" The blonde one spoke up and I nearly choked when I heard how his sexy voice matched his face

I forgot to reply for a good 2 seconds which was so embarrassing cause he was looking at me as if I were crazy "Ermmm yeah, just for today" I manage to get out and he nods and looks back down "What's your favourite thing to eat here?" The brunette with glasses now looks at me with a button down t-shirt and I swallow "Well, I think everything on the menu is really good so I can't choose" I shrug and he looks back down

It's not that I couldn't choose its the fact that I haven't even eaten anything from here, I can't afford to be eating, priorities first I say to myself every time I go around the cafe

"Can you come back in 5 minutes, I am sure we would've decided by then" The blonde speaks up again and I fake a smile then walk away, STRAIGHT TO THE BACK

"SAVANNAH" I call out interrupting my best friends break, who jumps at my sudden burst "What's wrong?" She stands up holding her chest "Okay so three men just walked in-" "Good-looking?" "Too good-looking" I crush on the men in my head "So what's the problem?" She smiles and I cringe to myself "I can't serve them" "You're so ridiculous" She rolls her eyes washing her hands "I can't Sav, you're gonna have to go to them" "Have you not attended them?" "No, I have, but they said come back in 5 minutes" "So go back" I give her a 'ARE YOU SERIOUS?' look and she bursts out laughing "You're so lucky I just finished my break" "So is that a yes?" "You owe me" she put on her waist apron and slides her notepad and pen inside and walks out "Good luck" I say as she walks out the back and I pace around the room contemplating whether I should go back out or wait for her to come back with the order to make food

I'll wait 

I decided to clean up the kitchen whilst I waited but it wasn't very long until Savannah came back "Wow what a bunch of good looking men" She also crushes and we squeal together "I thought you were exaggerating but god damn" "Right?" She nods "But guess what?" "What?" "One wasn't very happy that I went to them?" "What do you mean?" I scrunch my face "He said 'Wheres Natalia?' like very upset and a bit angry, I don't even know, I just said she went on her break so I took over" She mimics a manly voice making me giggle a bit "Really?" I say with real shock plastered on my face that he even remembered my name 

"How have you got him crushing on  you already?" She teases me and I slap her arm "Behave Sav, what did they even order?" She gives me a page from her notebook and I prepare what they wanted to eat "Better get ready cause you're bringing it to them" "What?" "I am getting peoples orders" and before I could throw a fit she's gone and I know for a fact she's not coming back until I am out

I breathe in and out once I get the last dish ready  "It's not that deep Natalia, I just, you just need to go out and just, just be normal a simple here you go, enjoy and it's done and never again just go out and here-" "Oh sorry, I thought this was the toilet" I jump at the deep voice behind me and immediately turn around to the brunette from the table who never spoke to me but now we are literally staring at each other 

Awkward

"No, the toilets the other way around" I rub my hand on my bottoms trying to get the sweat out "I am sorry for scaring you" He says in a monotone without a facial expression "It's fine but round the other way" I force a smile waiting for him to leave but he doesn't so I use this time to admire his uniquely tanned skin but snap out of it as he speaks up "What was your name again?" "Natalia, yours?" I said really quickly which makes him look at me weirdly 

WHY DID I ASK HIM, WHAT IS WRONF WITH ME OMG

"River" I nod "Nice name" I reply "Thanks" He replies and leaves without another word 

'WHAT THE HELL?!' I mentally scream to myself with wide eyes 'I just had  conversation with one, without stuttering, YES,' I take one breath again and lift up the dishes with confidence and deliver it to the table 

"Here are your meals I hope you enjoy it?" I look up at River and he's not even looking at me, doesn't even look like he found the toilet cause his hands weren't wet and I don't know I was making an excuse 

"Next time don't make your friend do your dirty work Natalia" The blonde speaks up and I look at him confused. The table bangs and the brunette with the glasses smiles at me "He is joking, we will enjoy thank you" "F*cking bastard" The blonde whispers to the brunette but River doesn't react at all, it's like he is expressionless and that bugged me 

I smile and walk to another table to serve them and me and Savannah just worked hard to get everything done on time today so we could get home.

Two hours had gone by and they were still here, it's like I can feel eyes on my every time I walked around but I didn't get it at all cause I knew they were finished ages ago. Whilst in my thoughts they suddenly got up on put on their jackets so I walked over to them "Thank you so much for coming, hope to see you soon" I was lying I hope they didn't come again I could barely work properly with them around "Can I have a piece of paper and pen please?" River asks me and I give him my pen and rip a paper out and he writes something on it, gives me my pen and hands me the paper "Thanks" I didn't read what was on the paper and just slid it into my apron 

"Nice meeting you Natalia" The brunette with glasses says and I force smile as they leave, they were literally the last customers in here so once they left, I locked the doors and turn the sign around to say 'closed' and breathed out 

"Tell me one didn't want to have s*x with you!" I hear Savannah say behind me inappropriately  and I turn around in shock "EW" I grab the mop and start to clean "Come on tell me you didn't realise?!" "Savannah, why would he want to have s*x with me?" I stop mopping and look at her "Okay maybe s*x was a bit intense but he was staring the hell out of you, THE WHOLE TIME" "Who?" I continued mopping trying to get it all done but she still pesters me 

She stops wiping the tables and smiles "The brunette without the glasses" "Ohh" "Ohh?" "I mean like something happened" "Something happened?" She walks over to me prodding me to continue" 

"While I was making the food he came to the back and we talked but he was looking for the bathroom, he must've got lost" "You're telling me he missed that sign?" She points to the massive ladies,gents toilet sign on the wall "Maybe" I shrug and she scoffs "Just admit it, he liked you" "Savannah, I barely know the guy, I only know his name" "And that is?" "River" "That's a good moaning name" "SAVANNAH EW GROW UP" She bursts into laughter and I roll my eyes "Okay I am just pulling your legs, let's just get cleaned up and leave this b***h" I nod in agreement and continue to clean
