Chapter 1 - The Lookalike Profile: Me Name: Ruby Sanders Occupation: Field intelligence agent, RED Task Force Team Age: 23 years old Birthplace: Augusta, Maine, US Parents: Milena (Millie) and William (Bill) Sanders, both deceased Siblings: N/A Spouse: N/A "You kind of look like her already." Laurie chimes. "Doesn't she look like her already?" She turns to Sean our team leader and boss.  I've been trying to convince Sean to let me work on this next mission. He is arguing that it's too close to home, but it's not. It's literally home, but I'm the one who brought him this new job. And frankly, Sheriff Mills is using all his yearly budget to contract out team, and that is a lot of money we could use. Guns are expensive, you know? I'm Ruby Sanders, and all my life I've been waiting for an opportunity like this, an opportunity to penetrate the impenetrable and get close to the monster that took my family away from me, and then kindly return the favour. The reason as to why I jumped and stormed right into Sean's office the moment I got the call, is because it all comes down to my father, and the opportunity of avenging his death somehow. Augusta's Sheriff, who happens to be my godfather and my late father's best friend, called to ask for my help. And if he called the only person that he was trying to keep away from that town, then he must be desperate. It looks like they have a murder in the quiet town of Augusta, and between closed doors, there is hush talk that the son of the most influential man in the whole state of Maine, the Governor, might be the killer. Missing evidence, witness tampering and everchanging stories have lead the Sheriff to contact me and subsequently the RED Task Force and ask for help in getting to the bottom on the gruesome murder, and maybe finally get the chance to rid the city of corruption and crime syndicates. They could do with a new Governor and less business monopole. The only problem? Well, when I say problem I mean that it is one for Sean, because there is no problem for me. The case might be too personal since I have my own grudge against the esteemed Governor, and everyone in my team knows it. "I mean, Laurie is no wrong here, Sean. The hair is easy enough to fix, and I can add a few drops of lip fillers, maybe something in the cheekbones also, and the mark wouldn't be able to tell the difference." Dr Mack joins in and agrees with Laurie, while inspecting me as if he's just seeing me for the first time.  My grin widens smugly in front of Sean, seeing the support I get from the others. I'm sure we're already giving him a massive headache, but he rarely disagrees with Dr Mack and his expertise. Profile: Friend Name: Dr Mack Occupation: Intelligence agent, Doctor/ Plastic surgery Age: Anywhere between 30 and 60 years old. He likes to experiment on himself. Birthplace: I want to say... Texas? Parents: N/A he is a vampire for sure Siblings: N/A He is too vain to accept any  Spouse: I lost track after his 4th official wife All this time, all of us keep glancing at the profile that is being displayed on the big screen in our conference room. The woman that is currently staring back at us in high definition, couldn't be more different than me even if I tried, both physically, and clearly personality wise also. I will have to ask Dr Mack to surgically remove or inactivate some of my neurons so I can play the part properly. "Fine, you win." Sean groans. "Why do I always get myself into this? I should be retired on some beach in f*****g Bora Bora by now." He mutters like he always, and I mean always, does.  "Because you love it, old man. And we have a murder to solve, a billionaire to take down, you know... the works." I remind him. Sean keeps complaining and saying that he's tired of all this, but the truth is that he loves it probably more than Laurie, Tom and I do. We're the field agents, and we get to do all the cool stuff like assuming new identities every few months and working the missions from the inside. "Great, then it's all settled, let's get Dr Mack what he needs and start planning the best way to get you in." Sean says dismissing everyone. "You mean the best way to take the tramp out and me replace her?" I wink at Laurie and she giggles, agreeing with me. "In more sensible words, yes." Sean is now rubbing his temples, undoubtingly his headache increasing in intensity and it's not even noon yet. Meanwhile, Laurie claps her hands together, excitement written all over her face. And speaking of my lovely team mates, Tom pushes through the door and stumbles inside the room, clearly out of breath from rushing here. He will try to convince us he was working, doing recon or some lame s**t like that, but we all know his latest threesome most likely ran late. "Hi, sorry I'm late." Tom starts but abruptly stops when he sees the profile up on the screen. "Whoa, who's the mark? She's f*****g hot!" "That's not the mark, it's the identity Ruby needs to take." Sean explains to the late comer, already bored of all of us. "Oh, s**t. Good luck with one Ruby. Are you getting duck lips?" Tom mocks me pointing at the lush, and clearly fake, lips that the girl on the screen has, then rising his eyebrows suggestively at Dr Mack. "Or as I would like to call them, c**k sucking lips." Laurie jumps in, making me groan just like Sean does. They are worse then teenagers, these two, but they would take a bullet for me without batting an eyelid, so I love them like I would my family. "Myeah, lip fillers or not, I don't plan on sucking his c**k, just so you know." I roll my eyes, but they all know I mean business. "And why would you assume I meant your mark?" Laurie teases. "Mission on not, you're free to do as you please in your spare time. You left that place more than 10 years ago. There's no way anyone other that the Sheriff would know who you are, therefore you can have some fun with your brand new looks. I just ignore her. There's no point to argue with Laurie's logic. She's notorious for 'having fun' in all places where we travel for a mission, but my very mission is to pose as one of the mark's many girlfriends, and surely seeing other men wouldn't be a smart idea. ---- One week later, and the whole team is in Augusta, in a crappy motel that wasn't here when I skipped town. Over the past couple of days, we've successfully taken over Melody Bourne's life, without her even realising it. Sean sent her off to a 3+ months all inclusive cruise across the Caribbean and all other tropical island in the latest travel brochures, secretly hoping she vanishes in the Bermuda Triangle, and we're good to set our plan in motion. She didn't even question her random win, considering she didn't enter any contests. What did I tell about those neurons? "You have to be shitting me right now? How am I supposed to do this every day? It literally took you 2 hours." I look at myself in the mirror after Laurie's handy work with the make-up brushes is complete. She refused to let me do it, because I'm not as generous with the foundation and contouring as she is. "I'm serious, add the right make-up and not even Melody's own mother would be able to tell the difference. See?" She points at my reflection, and despite my protests, I have to admit, I'm a close double for Melody Bourne. This might actually work. "Fine, but I am not getting a boob job." I huff, knowing from the pictures and surveillance videos that Tom took of Melody, that she is unnaturally gifted in the chest area, and the whole time we have been preparing for this mission, Dr Mack has been offering a small enhancement to match my new lips. "I think you're more than fine in that department, let's just hope he can't tell the difference between silicone and the real deal." Tom winks at me playfully, while Laurie perks up at the talks about breast augmentations. Knowing her, if she was in my shoes she would jump at the opportunity to get some free enhancements. "Let's just hope he won't ever get to touch my real deal and we'll be alright." I mumble while I take the skimpy outfit they have prepared and go in the bathroom to change. It's shocking that the woman actually dresses like this all the time. I briefly wonder if her make-up is currently melting under the Caribbean sun. "Uhm, you know the mission is to be his..." I hear Sean jumping in with a plea in his voice not to f**k up the job. "I was just making a point, geez, lighten up, boss. I'm up for it, it's not the first and it won't be the last." I shout through the door letting them know that I can do this. It's not the first time I had to sleep with a mark, and I'm fully prepared and trained for it. In fact, I can't remember the last time I slept with someone for pure pleasure. Did I ever? I decide to push that pathetic thought out of my head and focus on the task at hand. Literally, because this contraption of a dress is harder to put on than finishing an obstacle course designed by Sean. "And you know, he's not bad to look at, either." Laurie chimes, referring to my mark. Yeah, Alec Vaughan might not be bad to look at, but he is the son of the devil, which means that he's just as bad as the devil himself. Not to mention that he's suspected or committing the gruesome murder, but for Laurie that's always been just a minor detail when she latches onto a man. For me, it's a means to an end, and the end is to find proof that ties him to the death of Melody's brother and take him down, along with his father. "Then by all means, would you like to go undercover instead of me?" I propose, coming out of the bathroom looking like a p********e. Tom stifles a laugh, knowing that I don't particularly enjoy it when I have to assume these kind of identities. "No, you go ahead and take this one, babe. You deserve to be the one that takes them down." Laurie gives me a side hug, her words hitting home. I will bring them down!
