Prologue

"We'll start the bid at five hundred thousand!" The loud shout echoing around me quickly shot a jolt down my spine, and I felt myself moving as if I just woke up. Everything was like a dream, my eyesight was pitch black, and my whole body was extremely numb. Faint voices and conversation kept tossing all around, gradually making me realize that the atmosphere surrounding me wasn't an illusion or dream. I was in the real world. "Eighty thousand!" "One million!" Finally matching all the pieces together of the puzzle that kept me questioning my presence, I collected every last bit of strength left in my body and the first thing that my brain came up with to do was to yell. But that effort only made my fear fuel up more. I couldn't move my lips. My mouth was tied. "One million and three thousand!" I was hurting. I was unable to speak. I could barely move, my hands were tied, my eyes were tied, my mouth was tied-- my whole body was tied. It was like I was living in a dream-- a nightmare --it had to be a goddamn nightmare. "Three million!" The whole room erupted in a much louder noise, and as a few horrific seconds-- as if the previous ones weren't horrific already --passed by, another voice started shouting. This time I realized the reason for to make this voice echo louder was that it was speaking through some sort of device . . . a microphone. "Three million going once, three million going twice..." my heart kept dropping an inch again and again the more the manly voice kept going on. "Sold off at three million!"
