New Leaf

Prologue

I checked my phone to see what time it is: 2:30 am.

'I still have half an hour before leaving, let me make sure that I have everything I need' I said to myself.

I stood up from my bed tp check my stuff and put them near the door.

Laptop... check.

Purse... check.

Wallet... check.

Suitcase... check.

Passport... check.

"I'm ready" I say.

I feel my phone vibrating, I hold it and check: it's 3 am now and i see that i have a message

***Your ride has arrived***

I put my phone in my purse, I take my purse, laptop bag and the suitcase before standing infront of the bedroom door, I put my hand on the door knob and take a deep breath before opening the door slowly to avoid making any noises. I stepped out and took my suitcase with me, I put it on the floor and I close the door behind me before taking my suitcase again and heading for the main door. I opened it silently and stepped out of the house making sure not to make too much noise and I close the door and lock it, before pressing the elevator call button.

Once it arrived I go inside and press for the ground floor, when I reach the ground floor I walk out of the building and find my cab is waitimg for me just at the entrance.

When the driver see me he steps out of the car and heads toward me

"Good morning" he says while taking my suitcase from me and putting it in the car.

"Good morning" I say back while heading for the passenger door, I climb in and close the door shortly before the driver climb in the driver seat and close the door.

He look at me threw the mirtor and ask me "Do you have everything with you?"

I nod while saying "Yes, let's go please".

He put his seatbelt on and start the engine while I take a glimpse of the time on the car dashboard and read it's 3:15 am before we head to the airport.

It's a 15 minutes ride, there is no one in the streets everyone is deeply sleeping except for the few people who are also heading for the airport.

After a short drive we arrived at the airport, the driver parked the car and we both get out of the car. The driver help me with my suitcase while I go get a trolley to put all my bags on it, once all my stuff are secured on the trolley I take my wallet from my purse and pay the driver before heading inside the airport.

I check in my suitcase and take my boarding pass, I see the boarding time is 5:30 am and realize that I still have an hour and a half so I decide to go to the cafeteria and get something to drink before heading to the waiting area.

Once I arrive at the waiting area I take my phone out of my purse and make sure to turn it off before returning it inside my purse.

At 5:30 am the door open and people start to board, I take my purse, my laptop and hold the boarding pass in my hand before standing in line and wait for my turn to board.

Once I'm inside the plane the flight attendant help me find my seat, I put my bags in their assigned place before sitting down and putting my seatbelt on.

Half an hour later everyone was on board, seated, the door is closed and the flight attandants started to go through the safety instructions and before I knew it we started our journey.

I tuned everyone and everthing out and concentrated on looking outside the window enjoying the view of the city, how it gets smaller when we go higher untill it disappeared and was replaces by thr clouds.

I was lost in my own thoughts 'I know it's hard to be out there in the world all alone with no one to support me or help me but I had to do it, it was about time for me to leave' I tell myself.

'I will call them once i settle in and give them my new number' I promise, 'but not the address I don't want them in my life anymore' I retorted.

I sigh and say 'now I can finally breathe and be myself. I will start over, in a new country, with new people and a brand new life that has nothing to do with my past. I will be reborn once this plane land and since I want to start fresh, a newborn neds a name what will I call myself?' I ask.

Inspired by where I'm going and since I'm already familiar with their language and there tranditions I wanted a name that will help me to fit in but at the same time I want it to leave a mark, I smile to my self and whisper

"Leave a mark" I smile and say "I'll call myself ( Iz )".
