CHAPTER 1 – THE MEETING

1348 Words
GRACE New day new me. I woke up to the sight of boxes and a big wet kiss. -Max, stop it. I pushed Max out of bed, and at the same time I pushed him, Milo entered the room wagging his tail. Both started barking; they knew it was time for breakfast. I went to the bathroom first, to find Noah's clothes on the floor and the room wet. He didn't put the towel on the floor while he bathed and now the whole bathroom is a pool. I picked the soaking clothes up and started to think about why I thought that moving in with my boyfriend was a good idea. I went to the kitchen and gave Milo and Max their breakfast; meanwhile, I made my own. I picked up my things and took the dogs to the back. As soon as I opened the door, Belle entered the house. Without time to lose, I just closed the door and entered the car. One of my favorite songs started to play, and that was good, but I needed to make a call. -Hi baby, how was your morning? Did you give the dogs their breakfast? He said with a chirpy voice. -Hi, did you leave Belle outside? -Did I? -Yes, you did, Noah. You need to be careful she can go and get lost, she isn't afraid of dogs, and she is fat. Do you think she would be able to hunt birds and stuff with that belly? She will die! -Sorry, babe, I was running late and didn’t notice. -Look, I don't care if you flood the bathroom every time you bathe, or you leave glasses with water everywhere... even the pile of clothes that you leave behind, but if something happens to one of my dogs or my cat, I will go nuts. -Okay, baby, I promise I will be more careful. I'm still getting used to pets being around all the time, but I know you love them. -Thanks, Noah. I need to hang up. I am parking the car, and I’m feeling ready for another Monday of work. -Great, see you for dinner, pizza, right? -Pizza is perfect. Bye! . . . ZACHARY The packs have been a lot of trouble lately. Since I gave up looking for my mate, the pressure from the werewolf kingdom to choose a strong Luna is getting on my nerves, and don't get me started with the members of the parliament with the heir stuff, like if we couldn't live for 500 years. And the cherry on top of the cake is that now they actually found an actual reason to oblige me to meet every strong female in the kingdom by promising the visit of the king to each strong pack that sends allies in times of need. Of course, I couldn't get out of it. And now here I am with my third in command and one of my strongest warriors traveling the world to say thanks in person as if it wasn't easier to bring those alphas to me in Alaska. -If I don't go for a run soon, I will blow up. Red, it’s at his edge. I'm going crazy! -Don't shout Kevin, humans still got ears, and I don't think the alpha is in better shape than you. Kevin and Nelson looked at me, I stopped dead on my steps and looked at myself in the reflection of the window, and they were right. My arms' hair was standing up, my usual blue eyes were turning black, and I could see my nails already growing. -Nelson, you are my third in command. There is no need to be so formal, and you are right. I think Kygo will go wild. I just need 5 minutes for him to stretch a bit. I would stay here in the plane shade, stay out with Kevin, and forbid entrance to anyone understood? -Yes, alpha. -You got it, man. I just rolled my eyes and kept walking to the shade. I could hear Nelson growling to Kevin and probably thinking in the right sermon about the informal answer he gave me. To be honest, I don't care. I trust each of my men with my life, and they are my family, so formalities between us are trivial in my mind. “Are we ready to shift? Because I´m ready now!” was the only thing Kygo was shouting through the link, “Yeah, we are.” I let my mind slip and relaxed. Seconds later, I started to feel tingles and hear my bones breaking. In less than a minute, I was fully standing on four paws. Kygo is one of the biggest wolves on the kingdom’s record. He is completely black, a symbol of royal alpha blood, and has grey eyes. I started to move to the end of the shade just in case someone decided to enter, I could hide easier. Now in wolf form, my senses intensify. Even from this far, I could hear Nelson whispering a big speech of respect and formalities to Kevin, who at the same time was singing a song but probably so low that Nelson couldn't hear him even though he was closer to him. “I´m happy we are getting out of this place now. Zac, this heat is melting my brain. Why does a sandstorm pack even exist? We are wolves and shouldn't be living in deserts.” I could see my wolf relaxing with the walk but still getting affected by the heat, and I don't blame him. “You know they have the most resisting warriors, so they choose this type of place to train…” A light smell hit my nose. I closed my eyes and tried to concentrate with all my senses to identify it...it smelled like Casablanca lilies and rain? I opened my eyes and realized it was the most amazing smell ever, but rain? “Kygo, do you also smell the rain?” “Yes, it's just a hint, but there it is”. I could see him wagging his tail. “But females should not smell like nature, right? Just like flowers, fruits, and spices like vanilla, cinnamon, strawberry, and stuff like that, right?” “Yes but, I don´t care” At that second, he took control and started to run at full speed, leaving just a hole in the back of the shade. -“We are just beside you, Alpha,” I hear Nelson through the link. “Kygo, stop! You know this is against the rules. Stop now!” Nothing was working, even pushing my way through my mind. He didn't respond or at least decrease the speed. In the distance, I saw a girl with caramel hair and white skin walking to a red car. Kygo stopped just in front of the girl and lowered his head to smell her more clearly; it was evident she was the source of the smell. Her big brown eyes were wide open. I didn't know if she was scared or surprised, probably both. She raised her arm with her hand wide open to Kygo´s face. “Mate is going to touch us,” instantly Kygo and I closed our eyes, ready to feel her touch. -Don’t! I heard Nelson´s voice and I opened my eyes to see her holding her hand to her chest and with a look that I know is now afraid. I let a low growl out. -Sorry, we are transporting wolves to a refuge in the north, and this one got loose. I started to feel Kevin pushing me back. Another growl went out of my mouth, but this one was high enough that a human could hear it. -Sorry, I just thought he was gorgeous, but I should get going. She entered the red car and drove away, but the sound of her voice was still lingering in my mind. “She is our mate; go get her”…
