Through my window

“Sweetie this will be your room.” My mother says in a cheerful voice. “Nice.” I respond in a flat tone. I have been feeling very blue of late. My life went from a thousand to zero within a week and then to a hundred when dad proposed we move to a new town. I was more than thrilled. I did not waste time thinking about it I just wanted to get out of my old school and neighborhood. What made my life drop from a thousand to zero all revolves around a group of people I called friends. Amongst my friends I was the only virgin and they proposed I do something about it before the end of senior year which is now. This was a lot of pressure considering I was the only left amongst the six of us. Shelby who appointed herself the queen bee, set me up on a blind date at the closing bash we had, and little did I know it was with our new teacher. Long story cut short, it was a disaster, the teacher was furious, and he reported the matter to the head teacher who sided with him and blamed my parents for bad parenting. My parents on the other end, blamed the school and my friends. I was humiliated and never left the house for anything. Christmas and new year’s I was home locked up in my room. So, moving to a new place was the best news I got at the end of last year. This is a new start for me, and I will make the best of it. Mom shows me around my new room. Its’s quit spacious I have my double sized bed already in, my dresser and study table already in place. I have a small walk-in closet, a bathroom to myself, and a huge window adjacent to my bed. My view its not great, all I can see from my window is the house next to ours. Looks like someone’s room too. Maybe we shall get to know each other through our windows. My room is smaller than my brothers. From my parents room the twins had to get the bigger one because they must share it and I got this one. I love it though and what I love the most about this house is that guests have their own space, that way I do not get to accommodate anyone. There is a guest cottage outside on the other side of the house. My brothers’ room faces the pool and next to the pool is the guest cottage which is amazing. I know even if I asked my parents for it they would say no. It has a small living room area with a kitchen in the corner and finally a self-contained spacious room. I bet if I ask them to have friends over when and if I ever do make friends, they will let me use it if we have no guests around that is. “Okay sweetie, get right at it, let me know if you will need any help later. Let me check on your brothers.” Mom says before giving me a kiss on the cheek then walks out of the room. “See you later.” I respond. I look around the room which has so many boxes on the floors. I need to get packing, if I do not finish by noon, I will never finish. I grab my air pods and pick a playlist on my phone, its gonna be a long day. *********** Four long hours later, I have managed to pack all my clothes, shoes, and bags in my closet. I have made my bed, set my bathroom up with all my personal cosmetics and stuff. My dresser is set, curtains are hang up with a little help from my dad before he went back out to help my mom with other things around the house although most things were already set. Mom and Dad made a good decision to move all our furniture two days before we came. The moving company set everything according to mom’s instructions, the only thing she is still doing is putting up photos and other paintings around the house. As for me, I just finished setting up my study table. A lamp on one end, my books are on the side, most of them on the little shelf next to my desk. Above my desk is a board mounted on the wall. It’s a board of memories, I always have one up in my room. A few days ago, it was full of letters, notes and photos of my friends and I, or should I say the people I thought were my friends but after what they did, turning their backs on me when I needed them the most, they all seized being my friends. Everything on the board had to go! My board is empty now, like I said ‘This is a new start for me’ but I will add something. Let me write a note, my first note for my board of memories. I open my drawer and pull out a purple memo pad then rip the first page out. I get one of my pens with black glittery ink and write something on the note. I get off the chair to pin the note on my board. Stepping back, I give my board a little smile. With the hope of making amazing friends and great memories this board will be full in no time. “A new start ey.” I hear a male voice behind me which startles me immediately. My door is closed so whoever said that must have come in through my window. I turn around quickly then grab the nearest thing I can get too. “Whoa what is a can of air freshener supposed to do?” he asks. I look at my hand and find a jasmine air freshener can in my hand. Do not blame me, it was the closest thing I could reach from my dresser. I look at the window behind him, it is wide open. “Who are you and what are you doing in my room?” I try my best to not sound intimidated even though I am terrified. But hey why am I terrified, this person looks young and obviously not a thug. He must be a year older than I am and must still be in school and he is very handsome. “Relax.” He says with his hands in defense mode. “I am not a thief or anything. I only came to satisfy your curiosity.” He gives me a charming smile. “What are you talking about?” I ask with a raised eyebrow. “I am your neighbor.” He points his thumb over his shoulder towards my window which is still wide open and the cool air outside is blowing in a cool breeze. I put the can down on my dresser, at least I know his not a thief. “Why did you come in through the window and not the main door? and what did you mean by satisfy my curiosity?” “Well, coming in through the main door would have delayed me coming up here. In fact, I doubt your parents would have let a handsome teenage boy up to the teenage daughter’s room, so I came in through the easy way.” He points at the window again. Did he just call himself handsome? Pssshhh so full of himself. I roll my eyes. How did he even get up here, did he use a ladder? Does he do this often? Questions start running through my mind. “Well, I noticed you have been spying through my window all afternoon so I figured I might as well come and feed your eyes.” he winks at me then smiles again. Oh lord he has a charming smile. Wait did he just say he noticed me spying? Oh no, no, no, nooooo. My cheeks start changing color, I can feel it. “I was not spying.” I turn around quickly to hide my shame. He is right, I have been pepping through the window all afternoon and the few times I saw someone almost catching me, I moved away from the window thinking the person did not see me. “Yes you were.” “Was not!” “Was too.” “Gosh!!! Whatever so what if I happened to be looking out my window while you were at your window?” “Not in a million years. Just accept it that you liked what you saw.” He smirks. How I wish I could slap the smirk off his face. He is cute, very cute. He is about 6ft tall, dirty blond hair, blue eyes, a long pointy nose, lips that I want to kiss, a well-defined jaw and his body is amazing. He must play soccer or work out a lot. I could see his muscles through the white tee he has on, and the black shorts are exposing his strong legs. “Look, I was not spying okay. Get that!” I stand my ground. “Fine.” He shrugs, “Soooo………..” he starts saying something then gets interrupted by my mom’s voice. “Sweetie dinner is set!!!!!!” she shouts from downstairs. I walk to the door and open it slightly, “I will be down in a minute.” I shout back. When I close the door and turn around, he is gone from the spot I left him. I quickly move to the window and see him walking towards his house. That was so fast, he got down in no second. No fence separating our houses, just a perfectly trimmed lawn with flowers. I guess I have a hot but strange neighbor!!!
