CH:1 End of a Search

A little boy was hiding under a staircase, big tears rolling down his cheeks. He was crying without making any noise. There was so much light outside, but he couldn't get out. He put both his hands on his ears and closed his eyes. His body was shaking, and his back was all wet with sweat, but he didn't leave. A disturbance occurred between the present and the past. He gulped, then opened his eyes wide. He found himself sitting at his desk in his office. Sweat formed on his forehead. He wiped it with a tissue and composed himself; he had fallen asleep in his chair. The disturbance that pulled him out of his nightmare was the knocking on his office door. He pretended to be working on his usual paperwork in his office. His eyes were fixed on the laptop screen. He heard the knock on the door again. He sniffed the air, trying to catch a scent of the person standing on the other side of the door. "Yes, come in," he said. The man opened the door and entered. He gave the man a look; he had finally arrived. "I was waiting for you. I hope you bring good news!" he said, glaring at him. "I am sorry, Alpha. It took me so long to come back," he apologized and bowed his head. "I don't care if you are late. Tell me, all that time you spent out there, it didn't go in vain. I will not back away before killing you with my sinful hands," he said darkly, clenching his teeth. The man gulped, then looked at the Alpha for a moment, clearing his throat. He knew his alpha was like that, so he didn't mind his death glare. He was also using his Alpha tone. The Alpha had been waiting for him for days, so he could be a little mad at him, but he had been working out there, and he finally showed his face after two months. The boy standing there had blue eyes, dusty black hair, and a good physical appearance. His name was Taylor. He was an omega and the third commander of the pack. "Alpha, I took too long, but there is good news," he said with a smile. The Alpha gave him a little nod in return for his cheerful smile. "What is it, Taylor? Did you find him?" the Alpha asked. It was the only question coming to his head since Taylor entered his office. And he could see it in Taylor's eyes. He had good news to tell him. Excitement danced in his eyes. "Alpha, for the past three years, we have been searching for him in the woods and old packs. The hidden ruins, we searched them all. But guess what? We were looking for him in the wrong areas," Taylor said, taking a breath. The Alpha raised his eyebrow when Taylor stopped mid-sentence. "He is in Laine City," Taylor said. "What? Are you sure about it?" the Alpha questioned. "Yes, Alpha, we found him," Taylor told him. "Laine City, the old boulevards for witches?" the Alpha questioned. He went quiet for a minute. The Alpha was curious to know more about this man. He cleared his throat to get Taylor's attention. He wanted him to give him all the information. "Tell me, is it the city? Last time, he disappeared under our noses. I don't want him to slip away from my grip this time," the Alpha ordered. Taylor started telling him the details. "Yes, Alpha, he moved there, so we couldn't track him. The city is protected by witches' spells. He lives in a quarter in Laine City. Due to the lack of a werewolf community, there aren't many packs in the city. As the witches have taken hold of the city, they have erased the memories of the old people, and the younger generation doesn't believe in the supernatural. So, few people know about us. That's why we couldn't find a clue when we first searched there," Taylor gave him more details. He closed his eyes, thinking of taking his revenge. A smile came upon his face. He opened his eyes and stared at Taylor's face. "So, did you get his address? The place where he works and all the other important details?" he inquired further about that man. Taylor nodded his head. A smirk came upon his lips. "Yes, Alpha. I got the address. Now, he can't escape from us. I have my men following him all around the city. All eyes and ears are on him. We have him in our hands. Don't worry," he smirked. The Alpha nodded again, signaling Taylor to leave him alone. "Taylor, you will be rewarded accordingly. Very good work," he said. Taylor bowed a little in a courteous manner and left the office. He stood up from his chair and walked towards the glass window. He opened it and looked towards the woods. A dark shade came into his eyes. Alpha Michael Black promised to get revenge on the man who killed his father. Not only that, but he was after a power that would make him unbeatable. The power belonged to him; it was snatched from him by one man. He promised his pack that he would avenge the injustice and brutal acts that happened to them. He had made this promise years ago and was waiting for the right time. Now, the time had come to fulfill his promise. This revenge was necessary for him to prove that no one could mess with a pack and destroy their lives. He wanted to set an example that no one would be forgiven for their cruel acts. Michael couldn't live peacefully until he fulfilled this promise. He would take revenge for the loss of so many lives. Michael took a deep breath and closed his eyes. He still had that day etched in his mind as all the painful memories burned inside him. He remembered his father and all the pain he endured after his death. His father had been everything to him. A good Alpha, father, and a very good friend to Michael. But that man, one man, he had destroyed everything. He had betrayed them. He had killed Michael's father and taken everything from him. But the time had come to take revenge. To teach him a lesson and give him what he deserved! Michael had the opportunity and power to inflict the same suffering he had felt for twenty years. It was time. That man would pay for his horrible actions. Michael smirked. He turned around and took slow steps towards a locker in his office. He had hidden this weapon for years, and now he had to kill a werewolf, so he had to retrieve it. The locker was secured by a fingerprint lock. He scanned his fingerprint, and it unlocked with a click. He opened it slowly, revealing a silver dagger. The silver dagger placed inside the locker was the weapon to kill him. Michael took it in his hands, examining it, checking its sharpness. A smirk appeared on his lips. The wait was over. He was coming.
