CHAPTER NINETEEN Hambry’s apartment was in one of those packed out apartment complexes that look like a carbon copy of any other building in the city. It was the kind of apartment complex you saw everywhere in the nation: plain, a little grungy, and very much average. Being a little after ten o’clock on a week night, they all assumed that the chances were quite good that Hambry was home. Mackenzie and Ellington met Penbrook and O’Doul at the central walkway along the first floor. The night was quiet and it seemed that there was not a soul stirring anywhere within the complex.
