Chapter Nineteen“Two,” I continue, wondering why I’m still alive. “Three.” As I count, I fume inside. Why didn’t a vision forewarn me of this? What use is my power if it doesn’t work when I need it? I wish I’d somehow gotten in touch with Darian and made him teach me how to properly control my power; that way, no orc would’ve been able to sneak up on me. “Fifty,” I say and allow myself to hope that I might actually survive this.
