Sophie’s POV
The doorbell rings and I throw the door open quickly.
Sean walks in and I grab him, locking lips with him immediately.
He pulls me away breathlessly. “Did she take it?”
I smirk mischievously, wondering why he is now interested in getting rid of my sister. All along, I was the only one enthusiastic about getting rid of Anna.
“She did,” I step away from him and go to slouch on the couch. Everything is working as planned and all we need to hear is the news of Anna’s accident which isn't on the TV yet.
After the accident and her supposed death, mother and I need to prepare to get the company.
Then Sean and I will get married. And that seals the deal.
A dangerous smile plays on my lips as I grab the glass of wine and sip.
“Anna caught us sleeping together,” Sean mutters, looking guilty as he rakes a hand through his hair.
But that is the least of my problem.
That had always been my plan A. Getting Anna to catch Sean and I in bed and having an accident. If I am questioned, that will be my alibi.
And Anna could be said to have had an accident due to the rage she was feeling from the betrayal of her fiance. No one would think it was murder.
If Sean goes down with her, it's also none of my business.
“How did you manage to get her to take it?” He finally settles beside me with curiosity written all over him.
Sean acts like a coward.
I told him to tamper with her brakes but he didn't have the balls to do so. I had to do it myself.
I roll my eyes at him. “You know Anna has a knack for coffee. She can’t resist my coffee.”
He nods in agreement. “And the brakes? Are you sure you did the right thing?”
I turn to face him squarely, slightly upset. “Who do you take me for, uhn? You think this is my first time?”
Horror fills his face immediately. “You mean you've done this before?” I nod. “Successfully?”
“Yep.” I reply and turn away from him. I have no desire in telling him the details, though. “Anna will be dead already so calm your nerves. I'm just waiting for mother’s call.”
I hate Anna with passion and I can't wait to get the news of her death. She acts like she deserves the best things in the world, while I have to deal with whatever she doesn't want.
Sean and I had a one night stand three years ago and never saw each other anymore, until father brought him home one day and introduced him as Anna’s fiance.
Sean ignored me like he didn't recognize who I was. But I was relieved when Anna told me she didn't like him. Our plan was for her to ditch him after going on two dates with him if she didn't see any future with me.
Surprisingly, Anna told me just two days after that she was in love with Sean. I was enraged.
I know it was impossible to do anything about it to avoid arousing suspicious. All we had to do was get rid of the first obstacle and now the second obstacle is Anna.
When father died a year ago, we got to know Anna needed to be married to get the company and every other thing. And now is the best time to finally get rid of Anna for ruining our lives by being our father’s favorite child.
Perhaps father should be blamed for making it so glaring to the eyes that Anna was his favorite.
Anna won't get the company. Not while I am alive. Not when my mother is always there to support me.
My phone rings and my mother’s name flashes across the screen.
“Princess,” she mutters from the other end. “Is Anna there?”
“She's gone,” I chuckle softly, enjoying the thrill of knowing I caused her death.
There is silence at the other end and I assume she is getting up from a group of board members and going to her office.
“What happened? She isn't at work yet.” She question, her voice a bit low.
“Well, she caught Sean and I,” I reveal to mother. I know she knows Sean and I have been having an affair behind Anna’s back since father died.
“You need to come home, mom so we can celebrate. Sean is here with me.”
“Did you eventually do it? And does Sean know what you did?” She demands from me and I nod, sparing Sean a glance before standing up and moving to the kitchen.
“Is everything okay, mom?”
“Don't be stupid, Sophie. Because you are sleeping with him doesn't mean you need to trust him 100%. Cut him off your plans henceforth. What if he betrays you? What if this is just a trap?”
There is a bit of truth in what she is saying but I trust Sean. He doesn't have the balls to betray me.
“You're not as smart as I thought you were,” she says through clenched teeth and I shut my eyes. “There is no news yet. Stick to your TV and call me as soon as the accident is announced. We need to get to work, ASAP. Get rid of Sean now.”
And she hangs up the call.
“Do you think she knows we are behind this?” Sean’s voice jerks me back to life as I turn around to see him enter the kitchen.
I don't want him to know mother just asked me to get him out of here and stop trusting him so I flash him a smile and shake my head. “Anna is too naive for that. She can't suspect her precious sister and definitely not you, her precious fiance.”
“But she's not stupid, Sophia. She caught us in the act and that speaks volumes of words.” He disagrees and I think he is right but nevertheless, I don't believe Anna would ever suspect me.
Might suspect him though. But that isn't my business.
Besides, Anna is dead anyways.
To shut him up, I move closer and kiss him again. When he wraps a hand around my waist, I know he wants me so I bite his lower lip in a seductive manner.
He moans and groans out at the same time.
“Anna is too much of a saint,” he mutters in between my mouth.
I shut him up again.
I already know what he wants to talk about. Anna refused him s*x and that was how he fell prey to my pawns.
She was waiting for their wedding night.
Suddenly, my phone starts to ring and I stop moving my lips on his. My eyes flash open but he holds me back.
Pushing him away, I move back to the counter to grab my phone. My mother's name flash across the screen again.
“What the hell did you do, Sophie?!” Mother screams at me.
“Do? What do you mean?”
Her breathing is heavy and my heart skips a beat. “Mom? What is this about?”
There is silence on the other end before a groan leaves her mouth. “s**t!”
“What happened mom?”
“Did you do everything according to our plans?” She probes, her voice high-pitched.
I nod, as though she can see me. “Yes mom. That's what I did.”
“When you tampered with the brakes, did you check the CCTV before doing that?” she suddenly questions, making panic and horror to expand my chest.
I become confused for a moment before nodding again. “The camera didn't capture any of that, mom.”
“What about when you spike the coffee?”
“Same. I dealt with everything before the show,” I explain to her, meaning there is no evidence.
The dashcam in Anna’s car was also destroyed beforehand. The coffee cup has been washed and there are no traces of evidence to back up her claim even if someone suspects us.
Mom’s silence is killing and I am about to askw what the hell happened when her voice booms again.
“Check the goddamn news!” She shouts before cutting the call. Curiosity gets the better of me as I race out of the kitchen, pushing Sean aside.
“Sophia!” Sean meets up with me, twirling me around to face him.
But if this is what I am thinking, we can easily blame it on Sean. I did it all because the i***t was too much of a coward to lift a hand and do something when he also wants her out of the way.
Remembering that mom asked me to check the news, I spin around and rush into the living room.
I grab the remote and put on the Television before clicking on the news channel.
“Lorenzo’s heiress married in court today.”
Which of the Lorenzo?
Confusion clouds my mind as I continue staring at the screen until another one pops up, showing a picture of Anna in the same dress she wore this morning before heading to work. The same dress she had on when she caught Sean and I having s*x.
“Anna Lorenzo shocks the world with her sudden marriage, thereby claiming full rights to the Lorenzo Groups of Companies…”
“What?!” Sean’s exclamation makes reality dawn on me.
It's Anna. My sister. Not another Lorenzo. Not Delilah Lorenzo. Not Isabella Lorenzo. But Anna, my sister.
“No, no, no!” I shout, moving forward to put the TV off when a wave of dizziness sweeps past me. “No!”
Sean rushes towards me but before he can grab me from falling, I fall to the ground, as darkness envelops me immediately.
