CHAPTER THIRTY 6:20 p.m. Eastern Standard Time The Situation Room The White House, Washington, DC General Frank Loomis was annoyed. “I told you people last night that we had highly trained and experienced Special Forces teams based in Niger, ready to go, awaiting our orders.” Susan had trouble paying attention to the general’s words. Instead, she watched his face contort while he spoke. He had a sharply lined face. His dress greens always fit him impeccably. He seemed remarkably physically fit for a man his age.
