Ethan drove back to Vanessa"s shortly before curfew.
“So, I sort of have a present for you,” he told her as they pulled up by the house.
“You really didn"t have to get me a gift.”
“Well, if it makes you feel any better, I didn"t buy it.” He reached into the backseat. He pulled out two small packages wrapped in pink sparkly paper. The one on top was adorned with a big white bow. Her eyes widened.
“Can I open it now?”
“Of course, hence the gift-giving.”
“Hence? Did you download the SAT Vocabulary app I told you about?” She laughed.
“I"d rather not comment.” He grinned back. “Now open the present, it"s killing me.” She opened the CD first, though there wasn"t an actual CD inside. Glancing up, there was a questioning look on her face.
