“Yes, though we did manage to rescue some pots. I guess that’s something.”
“So what brings you over here, to the forge?”
“Just taking a break. I don’t think I’ve ever sweat so much in my life.”
Charlaine chuckled. “And so you came over here, to the forge?”
“What can I say, I enjoy the company.”
Charlaine let her gaze drift over to the chapter house. Two lay brothers of Saint Mathew were on the roof, the Rizelian, Markus, directing their efforts.
“I have to say, there’s quite a feeling of community here.”
“Yes,” agreed Cordelia, “it’s one of the things the Church is quite good at, bringing people together.”
“Honestly, I find that surprising.”
“Why so?”
“Some of the other orders look down on us, don’t even consider us real knights.”
