“Well, I've felt this as the longest ride of my life.”
Just a few seconds ago, I parked in front of Nate’s building. None of us made a move to get out; we barely breathed inside my truck. Yeah, we're not running desperately like some old lady in a*****e with offers. The tension is already building, and there's no joke or prank Steve’s making to relieve it.
“Let's go,” I switch off the engine and slide out, rounding my truck to catch up with James and help him down. “Don't forget your backpack.”
“Oh, yeah,” James grabs the bag before closing the door, Steve joins us shortly after.
