It was roughly a thousand miles to Seven Rivers, New Mexico, and Emmett hoped to make it all in a single drive with no significant stops. He stopped his black 1931 Ford Model A coupe a number of times to purchase gasoline or stretch his legs, and he made the drive in roughly twenty-three hours.
