15 As Tom headed out the glass doors of the hotel, he thought back to the last time he had been there, just five weeks earlier for a meeting with potential clients. That time, as he was leaving, he had noticed security guards, side-by-side, leading the prime minister and a group of men, perhaps foreign dignitaries, into the hotel. And his old mate Hendo had been right there with them. “Paul Henderson. What the b****y hell are you doing here?” Tom yelled with surprise. “Tom, it’s good, really good to see you. But I’m working. Can’t you see I’m on the job, mate?” “Well done, mate! Good to see you.” “Look, about Helen, mate. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you. How are the girls doing?” “I got your card and flowers. She always liked your choice of flowers. The girls are fine, thanks, mate.
