“Umm, hello? This is Martin. Selena asked me to come tutor this evening?”
Rita glanced through the peephole. A black American man, with glasses and headphones on, and books by his side, stood outside her room, waiting.
“He’s here!” Rita exclaimed to her friend and roommate, Selena, who jumped up from the bed. Both girls giggled.
Rita sucked in a breath, combed a hand through her hair, popped open a few buttons on her shirt, and approached the door with an excited smile.
Showtime.
She opened the door.
“Hey there, Martin. Glad you could make it!” Rita said to Martin, extending her hand.
Martin took the hand in a firm grip and was ushered in by a wave of Rita’s hand. He was greeted by a tight hug from Selena, and his eyebrows shot up in surprise.
Rita exchanged a glance with Selen
