I hurriedly ushered it back in through the back door. I was unaware as to how long it had been out. But judging by its appearance, it had not been too long in the cold night air. The creature, which until recently had become subdued, appeared rejuvenated, even ecstatic. Its eyes were bright, and sharp. Its skin seemed almost to have a blush. It skipped around the parlour, like a child at play. My immediate concern was what tell-tale signs it might have left outside. Once I had secured it, I went out to the graveyard. To my astonishment, and surprise, there was no evidence of any of the graves having been disturbed. As I surveyed the area with great relief, I saw Mrs Chambers walking up the hill towards my door. I ran to block her path. She had been one of my more regular visitors
