For the past few days, I’d noticed something different about Daphne. Her gaze no longer held the same constant warmth that had melted me from the first day we met. She was still sweet, yes, still smiling and laughing with me, but there was something in her that I couldn’t quite figure out. Something that didn’t quite fit. And it was driving me crazy.
