"Di, are you alright? How is he treating you? I'm sorry our plan didn't work out. I'm so sorry," he bombarded me with questions.
"Geez, relax, Mark. I'm good, truly," I lied. I didn't want him worrying about me. He had already suffered at the hands of Alpha Kennis.
"I hope you're not bluffing. I want you to live," he said quietly. I fell silent, unsure of how to respond to that.
