Chapter 23Danny Frankel opened his eyes and tried to focus. His surroundings seemed familiar, but everything looked askew. His head was sore, he was too warm and his right arm lay numbly across his belly. He couldn't move the arm. It felt floppy like a dead fish. He massaged it with his left hand, squeezing and rubbing it until gradually the sensation of pins and needles painfully brought it back to life. Danny stared, his eyes searching, as familiar things came into view, trying to judge where he was. Slowly it dawned on him that he was lying on the floor of his dressing room, half in and half out of his walk-in closet, with one leg resting on the shoe rack.
