Baylee made the calls numbly, her tingling lips resisting forming coherent words at all, but she succeeded in the end. By the time Dylan emerged, rumpled and yawning, Baylee had secured a day off work and a plan to have Shelby stop by at nine thirty for a serious conversation. Dylan sat down to a bowl of cheerios in milk and a glass of juice. Baylee picked at a piece of toast, lost in thought. She was still drifting when Chase settled Dylan in front of Sesame Street and sent her to take a shower.
