Jasper seemed physically taken aback by his master’s outburst. The colour drained from his cheeks leaving him looking pale and ashen. He held up a trembling hand. “Forgive me your Lordship, I forgot my place for a moment.” Vincent, realising the affect he had had on the old man, took a deep breath through pursed lips. Although he could not deny his outrage at the man’s words, he also realised that Jasper was doing his best to relay a very sordid tale as openly and honestly as he knew how. “It’s alright, Jasper,” Vincent assured him. “You must forgive me for my sudden outburst.
