The night went by uneventfully for Mathew and his men. As usual they enjoyed each other’s company as well as the wine and food Vincent had left out for them.
They had all taken it in turns to doze while their colleagues kept watch, but under the circumstances most were too wired to relax enough to actually fall asleep. Therefore, by the morning most of them were completely exhausted.
Once the night had passed, Tom ventured out to see if the sun had risen.
When he returned to the others to confirm that it was so, they packed up their belongings and left the cellar.
Once outside, Mathew instructed his men to make their way back to their cottage in the grounds of the church. Now that all the corpses had been removed, they could relax and catch on some more sleep.
