Chapter Twenty-Three Jackson didn't let go of Lucia's hand the whole drive home. He rubbed his palm against hers, stroked her fingers from nail to knuckle, and pressed the back of her hands to his mouth until her cold skin warmed. When he pulled up to the house, it was with great reluctance that he unwound their fingers to cut the engine and get out to open the car door. He swooped her into his arms and carried her over the threshold like he'd seen humans do after they were married. Lucia laughed at his shenanigans. The trickling sound bounced off the walls. The echo rose to the ceiling where the moonlight shone through from the skylight.
