The first snow arrived early and with a vengeance, blanketing the entire kingdom in a thick layer of white. The Army of Merceria, safely spread amongst the great cities of the kingdom, dug in for the winter even as new recruits began arriving in Wincaster.
Based on the success of the closely packed Orc spearmen, Gerald decided these new Human warriors would be trained in a similar style. This meant that their weapons were much easier to produce, although it would still require the capital's smiths to work for months preparing armour in sufficient quantity.
