CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR
It was a desolate place, the landscape scared as if blasted by numerous explosions or artillery shells. It reminded Reece of certain areas he’d fought in during the War, whole sections of earth blown wide open, the shell-holes deep and treacherous. The only difference here was the lack of mangled, ruined bodies.
Doc Turner picked up on Reece’s mood. “You been here before?”
“Eh?” Reece shuddered, pushing the memories aside. “No, no, it’s not that. I ain’t ever been here but this place reminds me of somewhere, that’s all.”
