Jama stood in the centre of his imuzi watching Yibanathi, his iniKozikasi - Great Wife - and Lerato, his second wife, preparing the mealies and milk curds – amasi – for the evening meal. Unlike most married Zulus, Jama’s Great Wife was also his first wife, while prosperity had allowed him to afford three others.
