"If it is the will of the Elders," continued Telethial, "then they will provide. Failure to take such precautions will result in a depletion of available game." She turned her attention to the Orc, "Your methods will depopulate large areas of the wilderness and interfere with the food chain."
"Food chain?" asked Gerald. "What in Saxnor's name is that?"
"The Elves learned, long ago, that when you hunt out an area, you destroy the natural food for the predators. These predators, in turn, will become more aggressive in their hunt for food, attacking settlements and killing innocent people."
"And how do you prevent that?" asked Gerald.
"As I said, we hunt in pairs," repeated the Elf. "Each hunter maintains their own balance, hunting a variety of animals for their meat."
