Jess Garrett had been in a revolting mood all day. It began when she was roused at one am by a car door slamming and two girls hurrying past the house, screaming at one another. The music from the party up the street had thudded for several hours before that. Mercifully Cara had stirred and resettled. Aaron on the other hand was completely oblivious to the racket outside and continued snoring.
