CHAPTER 13
The moon hung over the ruins of Skeon. Its light, mellow and pale, bathed the white rocks in a glowing luminescence. Violet looked up to see it, a narrow crescent with deadly sharp points on each end. Along the lower curve, a n***d woman perched, one leg tugged up to her chest, the other leg dangling.
By pure instinct, Violet prostrated herself flat onto the ground. “My lady.”
The woman jumped down, her body splashing into the pool. “Quiet, you,” she ordered.
The crystal ceased its incessant whining.
“That’s better. You’ve done well, Violet Warren.”
Violet scoffed into the moss. “I killed one man and gave my virginity to another. Yes, it’s been a marvelous day.”
The woman sighed. “Get up. We cannot talk with your face in the mud.”
