Epilogue
YEAR 2024
Devin walked across a street in the city of Dhamar, in Yemen. He needed to stretch his legs after being cooped up in the hospital for the last six hours. He’d been cautioned not to wander around since the area was known for violence. All morning long, he’d heard gunshots around the hospital. Already he’d helped three additional people that had been brought in with gunshot wounds.
As he strolled along, he passed several buildings that were just bombed-out shells. In one case, he wasn’t sure what was keeping the remains of a government building from falling. There were occasional cars driving down the street, and burned-out abandoned vehicles on the side of the road. Cleaning up the debris was apparently not a high priority.
