I'm writing to you from Kabul right now. I supposed that comes as a shock, but I'll try to explain. It has nothing to do with my studies in Medieval government systems.
Do you remember the discussion we had about nation building and evolution of government systems?
Well, I'm not here because I'm a student, because I'm not, at least not any longer. However, my interest in government systems, at the national and sub-national level has been my focus since high school. My parents taught me through their experience to be skeptical of leaders' promises yet hopeful that the right political and social systems would serve the interests of all people. But this is not the reason that I'm writing to you today.
