For that reason, he decided not to return the dossier to North Hill immediately, but to have a relaxing day checking out some of the Anglo-Saxon sites scrawled across five pages of his notebook. After careful consideration and having ascertained the brightness of the day beyond the bedroom curtains, he opted for a visit to the village of Challacombe. Alice turned down the suggestion to accompany him, pleading tiredness and preferring to spend a relaxing day in and around their lodgings.
