I smoke a cigarette as I wait for Rain. The last eight days have been the happiest of my life. After the party for my birthday—to which I had to return, for my mother wanted me to meet all the females she had invited, hoping I would find my mate—I spent as much time with Rain as possible, for she is my mate.
And now, finally, it is a Full Moon. If Titan is right, tonight she will turn nineteen, and I will finally feel the bond with her. I will finally be able to stop hiding my relationship with her. Starting tonight, she will move to my room. We will share the same bed. We will wake up together.
My heart beats fast against my ribcage as I look at the forest.
I can almost imagine waking up with her beside me, the sun kissing her skin, her freckles standing out, my room smelling like her. And when she opens her eyes, that green gaze looking at me….
‘How about we put a pup in her belly tonight?’ Titan asks.
‘You and your obsession with a family. She is yet to build a nest and have her first heat. Besides, I want to enjoy her a little longer before we start having pups.’
‘Then leave your clothes out for her. Maybe it will trigger her heat,’ Titan suggests.
‘Be patient!’ I shush him.
If it were up to me, I would wait at least five years before I get her pregnant, but Omegas are different, their motherly instincts being awoken with their first heat. Maybe I can have Doctor Viviana give Rain something that will prevent her from having pups until I am ready to become a father.
I finish the cigarette and, being on the verge of having a mental breakdown, I take another from the pack. I have never been so nervous in my entire life. If Titan is wrong about Rain being my mate, then all my feelings for her will be for nay.
‘She is our mate. How many times do I need to tell you?’
As many times as I need.
I look at the small picnic table Dan and Elly set for me earlier. Andrea decorated the small clearing around the waterfall while I prepared food with Kevin and Victor. Kevin knows I suspect Rain is my mate, and from the moment I told him, he insisted I should wait until Rain turns nineteen before I do anything with her. I think he hates the idea of Rain being his future Luna, but I am not sure why. He never seemed to dislike Rain. On the contrary. I even remember him sneaking food for her when we were pups. Maybe once he finds his mate, he will stop pestering me about Rain.
I finish my second cigarette and flick the bud on the ground and smash it with the heel of my shoe. I take a mint candy out of my pocket and put it in my mouth. Rain hates it when I taste like tobacco.
‘Maybe you should stop smoking,’ Titan says. ‘It will make me happy.’ When I snort, he adds, ‘It will make her happy.’
If it makes her happy….
‘I will think about it.’
The Full Moon rises high above the forest, and I start pacing around, impatient for the moment when Rain will appear. I am about to smoke again when I finally scent her—apples and caramel.
Rain.
I glance at the cake, wanting to be sure it is still on the picnic table, before I look back at the trees. Lamps hung from the branches, casting a soft light.
And there she is, wearing the green dress I personally purchased for her. Andrea—who, from what I learned, is a total shoe freak—helped me choose a pair of high heels that Rain would like. The ones that she wore during my birthday made her feet hurt.
Rain stops where the glade starts. The dress fits her perfectly, just like I knew it would. f**k me! That body of hers! f*****g sexy as hell.
Time slows down as I start walking. She keeps looking at me with her gorgeous eyes.
My heart beats like crazy. I feel so f*****g nervous. Please, let her be my mate.
“Happy birthday!” I say the moment I stand before her, and I pull her in for a kiss.
A nuclear bomb explodes inside my body. My soul reaches for her soul, and Titan roars inside my head, ’Mine! Ours!’
I break the kiss and look at her.
Her eyes go wide with shock. She is about to say something when I take her in my arms bridal style and spin her around and laugh like a damn fool.
Titan howls with happiness inside my head.
‘You were right!’ I laugh with joy.
‘Of course, I was. Told you she was special!’ his reply comes fast.
She is. Not only special but perfect, and sweet, and innocent, and mine. All mine.
I stop spinning. “Mine! You are f*****g mine!”
’Our mate!’
“I don’t understand,” she says.
“What is there not to understand? You are mine, and I am yours.”
“But, but….”
I silence her with a kiss. Even if she said she would stop fighting me, she does it every single day. I am starting to think she likes to test my patience. “You said you would obey me,” I remind her as I break the kiss.
“I am not trying to fight you. I am just confused as to why you wished me ‘Happy Birthday’ since my birthday is still days away. And… and… Safia showed me we are mates… and I don’t know what to make of all of this.”
I blink, and for the first time, a strange thought crosses my mind. “You don’t want… me?”
Rain denies it with her head. “I don’t… understand. This is all so confusing to me. I am not yet nineteen, and yet you and I feel the mating bond?”
I can see the confusion in her eyes, and I can scent it on her. “It had been Titan who told me about you been born today. I don’t understand either since I checked your birthday record, and you are listed to be born on the 28th of August, but here we are on the 13th of August, and you just barely turned nineteen. If not, how else could we feel we are mates? But regardless of what is happening, you are my mate, Rain.”
She bites her lip—like she usually does when she is nervous. “Are you sure we are mates? That you want… me?”
“I suspected it for days, and I wanted you long before that,” I finally tell her the truth. Even if I might have wanted her for selfish reasons, there is no denying that I fell in love with her. Even if I have been with many females before her, she is my first love, my mate, my Luna. “What do you say, Rain? Will you honor the mating bond and give yourself to me? All of you?”
“I don’t know what to say. The pack hates me. Your mother hates me. And your father... Your father....”
“They have nothing to say about the matter. You are my mate! I am still waiting for an answer from you.”
She swallows hard, understanding what I ask of her, and she gives me a barely visible nod. If I weren’t looking at her, I might have missed it.
Finally!
“How about we have cake, and then you can open your presents?” I ask.
A bright smile appears on her face. I help her stand, and taking her hand in mine, I take her to the picnic table. She looks around then at the chocolate cake like… it is the best thing she has seen in her entire life.
“All this for me?” she asks. “Cake too?”
Taking out the lighter from my pocket, I chuckle, “If I knew you liked cake this much, I would have asked Mrs. Mariane to make one for you daily.”
She shrugs. “I don’t know if I like it. I never had cake before.” I stare at her, my mouth slightly open. She never had cake? She licks her lips nervously. “I mean, from what I remember. My parents must have celebrated my birthday until…” her eyes shine with unshed tears “...you know, they died.”
“Rain, I never realized that this is your first cake….” How can I be so stupid?
‘Have I not told you that for an Alpha, you are an idiot.’
‘Not now, Titan!’
Titan huffs but says nothing more.
I light the candles from the cake, and while she blows them, I sing Happy Birthday to her. And then I give her a bag with gifts.
“For me?” she asks like she quite can’t believe she is worthy of them. “You should not have spent your money on me.”
My mouth twitches. “Kevin, Andrea, Elly, and Dan have also contribuied.” She takes out a velvet box. “That one is from me,” I say as she opens it, revealing a necklace and matching bracelet, her eyes going wide with shock. “Together with the k****e. The shoes are from Andrea, the teddy bear from Elly and Dan, and the drawing pencils are from Kevin.”
Rain shakes her head. “I can’t possibly accept this. It’s too… much.”
I put my palm on top of her hand. “Rain, you are the future Luna of the pack and Guardian of the Portal. You deserve this and a lot more.”
She blinks, realizing what I just said. Her face goes pale. “I can’t be the… future Luna.” She stands. I do the same. “You don’t understand. He won’t allow it. He will do whatever it takes to separate us.”
“Who or what are you talking about?”
Her hands shake. “I can’t talk about it.”
I go to her and put my palms on top of her shoulders. “Rain, no one will ever separate us.”
“Promise me! Promise that no matter what you see or hear or what is told to you, you will talk to me first. You will listen to me,” she begs desperately.
I nod. “I promise,” I say, not understanding what suddenly had gotten into her.
“Do you love me?” she asks.
“You know I do.”
“Then make me yours and mark me. Right here and now.”
While I won’t mark her until I take her to the Ritual Stones and have the Bonding Ceremony there, I will take her virginity tonight.
A folded blanket sits on top of the rock, and I spread it on the grass next to the picnic table. Without saying a word, Rain removes her dress, remaining only in a pair of panties and a bra.
I swallow hard. She is so f*****g beautiful.
‘Be gentle with her,’ Titan reminds me.
Like I would ever harm her.
“What do I do now?” she asks, her cheeks turning red.
I unbutton my shirt fast before I go to where she is standing and kiss her. My arms come around her, and I help her lie on the blanket. She shivers.
“It will be alright,” I let her know. “I will take care of you.”
She nods, and when I remove her panties, she squeezes her eyes shut. She does that whenever we do more than kissing. I like this shy part of her.
When her panties are out of the way, I finally see her p***y for the first time. Omegas don’t usually have hair down there, and Rain is no exception. After all, Omegas have been created, especially for Alphas, during a time when mates were scarce, and the males were not that interested in mating, as they preferred to fight over territory and prey.

I inhale deeply before I remove my pants and get on top of her. I catch her mouth in a rough kiss as my hands roam her body, preparing her for what is to come. When she is wet for me, I guide myself to her entrance, and before pushing inside, I say to her, “This might hurt a bit.”
She nods, and I push and push, expecting to reach her hymen, but there is nothing there. I look down at her, her eyes still shut, her face flustered.
It is not her first time.
She lied to me.
“You have been with another,” I mumble as I pull out and rush to stand.
Rain opens her eyes and uses her hands to cover herself. “What? No. No. It’s not like that.”
I put my pants on and take out a cigarette. “Then how is it? Because I asked you if someone did anything against your will, and every time you denied it!”
Rain gets dressed. “If… if…” she breathes hard. “If I have been with another, what does it matter? You have been with others before me.”
“But I never lied to you!” I roar. She flinches. “I didn’t mean to yell… I just need a few moments to process everything.”
She stands there, looking awkwardly around. “I never meant to lie to you. I am sorry. If you want to reject me, I understand, but I want you to know that I never lied to you and… and… I love you,” she says before rushing back to the Packhouse.
I pace around smoking like crazy.
‘Why the f**k do you have to ruin everything?’
‘I didn’t ruin anything! I just need a moment to think.’
‘Why does it matter if she was a virgin or not? I can’t even remember how many females you f****d,’ Titan says.
‘I don’t care if she is a virgin or not!’
The idea of being the first and the last male inside my mate…. It was all I could think about from the moment I started to suspect she was my mate. Now I feel emasculated.
‘Then what’s the f*****g problem?’
‘She lied to my face! If she could do that, who knows what else she is capable of!’
‘You are f*****g unbelievable. Do you know how easy it is for a hymen to rip?’
Is it? The females I have been with before had it intact, one of them even bled on the third or fourth time of us having s*x.
A slight pounding starts at the back of my head. I ignore the pain.
‘What if Rain didn’t lie?’
I finish my cigarette and make a decision. The pain at the back of my head intensifies.
‘Fine. I am going to talk to her,’ I say.
I make my way to her room as fast as possible.
The door is ajar, and I hear some strange sounds coming from her room. I open the door, and it takes me a few moments to realize what I see.
“What the f**k is this?” I yell when I see Rain on her knees in front of my father, sucking his d**k.
I feel like vomiting.
My mate and my father.
My mate and my father.
My mate, on her knees, in front of my father, sucking his prick.
A loud crack reaches my ears.
Was that my heart? A pain like I never felt before explodes in my chest. Why is breathing so hard?
“What the f**k is this?” I roar so loudly, I am sure I have woken up everyone. Not that I care. Because all I can see is my mate, the only female I have ever loved, on her knees with my father’s d**k in her mouth minutes after I have been inside her. Minutes after she told me she loved me.
Rain staggers back, tears streaming down her face. She shakes her head left and right and opens her mouth to say something, but no words come out.
Suddenly things I noticed before, things that my father said, that Rain said make sense.
“Son, I am sure you don’t mind sharing the pack’s w***e, don’t you?”
My father is f*****g my mate.
My mate—the pack’s w***e.
Then my mind is made up. Titan tries to stop me, but I block him, not wanting him to interfere with what I am about to do.
With two long steps, I reach her and yank her up by her hair. “You are a slut!” I say and spit at her face. “I thought you were innocent, and I wanted to make you the pack’s Luna, but you only toyed with my feelings!”
Rain finds her voice, for she starts begging, “Listen to me. It is not what you think.” More tears run down her face.
“You dare to deny it when I saw it with my own eyes? When my father confirmed it? How many f****d you so far?”
“No one! I swear!”
I slap her so hard her head snaps to the side. “Stop lying, you… you slut!” She looks back at me. Fear and pain, and betrayal reflect in her eyes. Good. I want her to hurt just like I am. “And you—” I say, looking at my father. “I will take care of you also!”
I yell for Dan and Victor and Kevin to come for my father. After f*****g my mate, my mate—he is no longer the pack’s Alpha. As I drag Rain out of her room, she tries to fight me, to escape me. Like she could ever get away from an Alpha.
“Look at my phone!” she begs.
“Shut the f**k up!” I yell.
Pack members are out of their rooms, wanting to know what the entire commotion is about. I stop in front of the entrance of the Packhouse. Kevin runs down the stairs. Dan and Victor follow him.
“What the f**k are you doing?!” he asks me when he sees Rain and me.
“Getting rid of the trash!” I snarl. Then looking at those staring at me, I say. “See this w***e? She was my mate. My. Mate. And she f****d my father. And who knows how many others!” To Victor and Dan, I say, “Bring my father here! He is in Rain’s room, where he was f*****g her!”
Kevin’s eyes go wide, and looks at Rain. “She can’t be yours.”
“Look at the phone!” Rain whimpers.
“Shut the f**k up!” I yell at Rain again. Taking a deep breath and calming myself, I do what is best for me, for the pack, “I, Jordan Reed, reject you, Rain Stillwater, as my mate and future Luna of the Crescent Moon Pack and Guardian of the Portal to the Diamond Realm.”
The pain of breaking the bond is so great I feel I am being ripped in two.
“No, no, no!” Rain says, her hands clutching at her chest.
The fingernails on my right hand turn into claws, and with every bit of anger and pain and hate I feel, I s***h her right shoulder. “I hereby mark you as a Betrayer so that everyone that meets you from now on will know what a piece of s**t you are for cheating on your mate, with his father no less!”
Rain falls to her knees.
Looking at the pack, I say, “From now on, I am the Alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack!”
At the top of the stairs is my mother. She gives me a nod before leaving.
Kevin punches me, and I let him.
“Remove her from my territory!” I order the guards, as my best friend throws punch after punch.
The guards hurry to do as I say, grabbing Rain and dragging her out of the Packhouse.
“She was never supposed to be yours!” Kevin yells as he keeps punching me. I don’t fight back because it distracts me from my pain.
“She was supposed to be mine!” Kevin keeps yelling. What is he talking about? “I would have worshiped the ground she stepped on! But no! You bullied her for years, and still, the Goddess gave her to you! And when she asks you to listen to her, what did you do?” He keeps hitting me while everyone stares. “I loved her since I was eight, hoping, always hoping, she was mine!”
He was in love with Rain all this time? With my mate?
Kevin stops hitting me, and I throw my first punch. “Did you f**k her too?” I roar.
Kevin straightened his shoulders. “I never did anything with Rain. I doubt any male has ever touched her besides your father, who is just a f*****g pedopfile. He took advantake of an underaged female! You’re just another piece of s**t just like him. You didn’t even give Rain a chance to defend herself,” he yells before storming out of the Packhouse.
I remain in the middle of the entrance, looking at the door. “What?” I snap when I can’t stand all the stares. “Return to your rooms! The s**t show is over!”
Ruth is the only one that remains. “Let me take care of you,” she says, and I let her because I need it.
An hour later, I get out of her room and go into my father’s office—my office now—and sit in the chair and stare at nothing. Memories of Rain and I come rushing back, and I want them to stop, to forget that she even existed in my life.
Some time later, Dan and Victor enter, but my father is not with them.
“Where is he?” I roar, feeling my blood boil.
“We don’t know,” Dan says. “He was not in Rain’s room, so we followed his scent, but we lost track of it in the forest.”
I slam my fist on the desk. “Go look for him again. And don’t you f*****g dare to return without him!”
Dan and Victor leave, and I grab a bottle of whiskey that my father keeps in the bottom drawer and I drink. And drink. And drink. Until the bottle is empty. Stupid human alcohol. It is not strong enough to make me forget.
Why, Rain, why?
My heart is shattered, and I finally allow myself to cry.
It is almost morning when Kevin barges into the office and throws a phone on the desk. I pick it up. It is the same one I gave to Rain.
“Look at the last two videos!” he says before leaving.
Afraid of what I am about to see, my hands shake as I push, play, and watch the videos. Seconds later, I rush to the bathroom and empty my stomach, and I do it many times more before I finish watching the videos.
“Now you know,” Kevin says.
From where I sitting, on the floor, in front of the toilet, I look up at Kevin, my face wet with tears. I thought he left. Maybe he returned to see my reaction as I watched the videos. Dear Goddess... the videos. Not even with therapy will I ever be able to forget what I have seen.
He is standing in the doorframe, a look of pure hatred on his face.
“Where is she?” I croak, my throat raw from all the vomiting.
“Her scent disappears inside the rogue territory.”
I try to stand, to go after my mate.
“You reek of Ruth. How could you stick your d**k inside her right after you rejected your mate?” Kevin spats his words in my direction. He narrows his eyes. “I no longer want to be your Beta. And I pray, pray, that by some miracle I am Rain’s second mate, if she is given one.”
And with that, I lost not only my mate but my Beta as well.
My mate. In Caleb Black’s territory. I have heard what he does to Omega females. What will he do to Rain?
In the blink of an eye, I lost everything.
I must go after my mate and save her.
So sorry for the long wait. I've been sick and I couldn't get stuff done. But I'm better now.
