Chapter Fourteen
Linc held Scout's back to his front as they rode back to Silver Star ranch. It was solidified. They were getting married. Colonel Matthews had given his blessing, along with an interrogation worthy of a CIA operative.
They'd spent a couple of hours in the man's office as he went through a slew of pre-marital counseling questions. Colonel -Father Matthews, because with the intimate questions the man asked, he might as well be Linc's confessor. Father Matthews had asked about his financial wherewithal, his family background. He'd even delved into Linc's military background.
Linc had answered all questions, even though the beads of sweat were clearly visible all around his neck. He'd been proud that he'd answered each question, each query clearly and without a mist of fog
