CHAPTER 23 The activity of Bernardino’s print shop in those days was frantic. The freshly printed books came out of the press at a fast pace, and directly reached a stall set up in Via delle Botteghe, near the main entrance of Palazzo dei Verroni. To say that the books were sold out was an understatement. Precious illustrated copies of the Divine Comedy by the great poet Dante Alighieri did not have time to reach the sales counter, which were already disappearing. For the occasion, even if the work was not yet complete because, in Bernardino’s opinion, it was lacking in some parts, countless copies of the “History of Jesi, from the origins to the birth of Frederick II” had been printed.
