Father Ignazio climbed the mule track that led to Colle del Giogo, to reach the others at the residence of Alberto and Ornella, located at the edge of the forest, just below the place where they had witnessed the Sabbath. It was by now day done. Turning occasionally towards the valley, he could realize that even the auctioneer had done his job well. Many people were already crowding in the square and the orders that the auctioneer was giving to those present were so loud that he could hear them too, perhaps thanks to the silence that reigned and the echo that was formed in that particular mountain amphitheater.
