Sean paced up and down the tiled floors of the hospital’s waiting room. Reed and Sarai sat in one set of chairs. Maggie and Eva sat across from them. They were all hunched over, worry heavy on their shoulders. Dylan, Fran, and Xavier were still at the ranch, but they checked in every half hour and planned to come over as soon as they got the chores done and the kids of the youth program back on the school bus.
