Nine The Trip South Autumn 921 MC The road meandered until it came to a crossroads where it still continued east, but a tributary headed south. Now, unsure of which path to take, Albreda sat on the ground, pondering her situation. She knew, of course, that Shrewesdale lay to the south, but how far she didn’t know. Was she better to travel south, then eastward or eastward, then south? She sat for a time, unsure of which decision to make. But, as fate would have it, a wagon appeared, travelling from the west—a merchant of some description, judging by the supply crates in the back.
