Eleven Cody After changing the tire, I put on my hat and opened the passenger door for Cassie. “Where are we going?” “Mandi’s house. I’m staying with her,” she said, rolling down the window. “All right.” I jumped into the truck and pulled out of the parking lot. We sat in silence for a moment and I tried to think of something to say. I peeked over at her, and my mind went totally blank. She looked so pretty with her pink cheeks and her hair blowing all over the place. I was tongue-tied. Maybe I should stop looking at her. “Think it’ll ever cool down?” I asked when I finally found my brain. “Uh, probably.” She gave me a funny look, and I quickly focused my attention on the road.
