The Way Forward
The first thing Haris noticed was the throbbing in his head, followed shortly by the sharp pain in his right side, which was followed by the pain from…everywhere else. He figured that was a good sign he wasn’t dead. Or maybe he was dead and death was awful. Either way, he knew that lying there wasn’t going to do him any good, so he peeled one eye open first. The light had him squeezing his eyes shut again and moaning. It took him a moment before he could truly open his eyes and he didn’t understand his surroundings.
