Chapter 9In death, There is Life
Ross and Derek McLennan received a summons to report to the office of DCI Oscar Agostini, presumably to provide the Chief Inspector with an update on the progress (or lack of), of their investigation. As they walked in to Oscar's office, they were surprised to see Detective Chief Superintendent Sarah Hollingsworth already seated in one of the visitors chairs.
Ross and the Chief Superintendent went through their customary brief greeting ritual, Hollingsworth speaking first'.
“D.I. Ross.”
“Ma'am.”
Hollinsworth went on to have a quick word with McLennan.
“Enjoying your promotion, Sergeant?” she asked.
“Yes, thank you, Ma'am,” Derek replied, taking his cue from Ross in keeping his reply short and to the point.
